This might not be for everyone, but if you are planning to buy a new Apple Mac, John Lewis is running a promotion where they give you 18 months interest free credit if you buy any Mac. This is in branch only. In the deal link I have given link for MacBook Air 2018 variant but it's applicable for all Mac's.

Can be easier to get credit in store than through a more traditional credit card so this could be useful to someone. Having said that if you can’t get accepted for credit card then I’d question whether you should really be getting £1000+ of in store credit! But maybe I’m a bit old school!

This is not just credit, this is Apple credit

They have put the prices up on some of the macs and dropped the three year warranty to two years.

No they didn't. That is the Apple tax.
Warranty you don't need 3 years, 2 are just fine. For the third year buy Apple care.
It's ok.
And don't forget your usb type c dongle.
And don't forget your charger. It might come without one. But that's ok.
You can buy one.

Here’s an example
Last week jl were selling iMac 27 for £1600 with 3 year guarantee and get 0% on a credit card or This week it’s £1749 at jl with 2 year guarantee but 18 month 0%

I was being sarcastic
It doesn't surprise me at all what they do.
What surprise me is how people see past this and still think it's ok.

Most of the time being approved for a credit card has nothing to do with how much money you earn. When you get a proper loan form the bank, they assess your salary, spendings, account history. With a standard credit check, all this doesn't matter. Sometimes people who can easily afford paying back have their finance/credit card applications rejected.

I think the flex cables connecting the screen & motherboard only last 2 years.
Good deal so hot from me.

I was looking forward to the new MacBook Air but the increased price combined with a dual core processor really put me off, guess i will be waiting on the next iteration when they inevitably go to quad core processors.

128GB of ssd in 2019 on a £1200 laptop! This is why I stay away from all Apple products.

Given Apple's history the next iteration will take couple of years

You hit that spot on. JL aren't stupid, they've probably had some returns on the 2016 MAcBook Pro which is plagued with this issue, and realized the flex/ hinge design of these recent models is very similar. Do get that AppleCare for the third year because you may well need it.

Another stupid design choice by Apple in order to reduce a mm in thickness.

They tend to do a processor upgrade yearly so we might see a quad core version this year.

Or nearing the 2 years, just move the screen back & forth until flexes break then take it JL to get it fix.

You're doing it wrong. 128Gb is more than enough.
To he honest, you should say thank you for being an SSD.

Oh, you mighty Apple, who showed us how to use our phones as we did hold them wrong....

Because you have to apply, wait to get the card in the post, then buy this deal. Here you just get it straightaway, with a trusted retailer. Seems obvious to me.

With the added bonus of not having to deal with John Lewis \o/
The 3 year warranty offer was only on for a month - I bought a 2017 Macbook 256gb for £710 from them on Xmas eve.
Apple laptops are ticking time bombs - the Keyboards could fail ( m.youtube.com/watch?v=4QDsqWkUvXQ ) and/or the screen could fail (flex-gate) .

If you choose to buy an Apple laptop in 2019, you're a fool.... Out of curiosity, please do confirm if you choose to buy one

which laptop is better ? 2017 or 2018 ?
So how does this work? I can buy and I don't have to pay anything each month like a minimum fee? I can literally just pay any amount throughout the 18 months?
