Good price, but if you already have Ryobi batteries (or batteries from a system that you can buy a Ryobi badaptor), the current £129 deal for the Ryobi 18g gun is a better purchase IMHO. I have both. The Ryobi doesn't do staples, but jams are almost non existent, additional batteries are easy to get, and it performs (nail embedment) much more consistently. The ferrex gun is reasonably jam free with good (eg tacwise) nails, but jams very often with staples. When you do get a jam, you have to use an Allen key to undo 4 bolts (that are very soft, so if not careful you can strip the head). The robot is a simple clip that take seconds.

What Ryobi deal are you referring to?

    Can be had for £85.49!
Price is £89.99 and has FREE DELIVERY
Go via Topcashback who are offering 6% cashback on before vat price = £4.50
    £89.99 - £4.50 = £85.49

Comes with one 1.5Ah HIGHSTAR battery. Not their usual ACTIV ENERGY battery. Dont know how easy getting a replacement battery might be. They currently have a couple of other tools using the Highstar but only Activ Energy batteries are available to buy on their own.

I want one for a bit of home DIY. Plywood panelling, furniture frame construction, partition stud walls, skirting boards etc

    This any good?

Whats the smallest staple it will take ? I'm after 15mm for upholstery.
    manowarbruno's avatar
according to the website it only takes 40 and 50mm nails

Would this be any good for putting up picture rails? I guess they would need 50mm nails, if not longer.
