1917 is an epic war film directed, co-written and produced by Sam Mendes. The film that won the Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes 2020, is a must-have. Acclaimed filmmaker Sam Mendes, the AcademyAward®-winning director behind “American Beauty” and “Skyfall,” focuses his lens on the Great War in “1917,” which follows two young British soldiers, Lance Corporal Schofield (George MacKay) and Lance Corporal Blake (Dean-Charles Chapman), on a dangerous mission in enemy territory at the height of the conflict. Featuring cinematography from Academy Award® winner Roger Deakins (“Blade Runner 2049”), the World War I epic is directed by Mendes from a screenplay he co-wrote with Krysty Wilson-Cairns (“Penny Dreadful”).

Terrible isn’t it. Why don’t cinemas just give you a free seat to watch it too or perhaps we could watch as they actually film the movie, rather than waiting and paying

Great price for a great film, if you haven’t seen it, do

Excellent film.
Is Apple or prime better stream quality - to me apple seems a little better.

Apple has Dolby vision for its HDR so the image has better highlights and the bit rate is mostly always higher... so yeah Apple is little better
Cold 🥶
Should be 299 pennies cheaper

A film with HDR and a film on SD colour space are completely different and are played differently by the TV you're watching it on.
An hdr film on a non hdr TV or signal will look dull and washed out

You’ve commented 3 times on it now, think I get your point mate..

Love this movie, and the story behind it contributed on how I felt while watching it... Shame it didn't win best picture but Parasite was just out of this world

Yeah Apple is better - they also have a much bigger 4K HDR library.

Any suggestions as to whether this would be better on a large 4k TV or projected in HD onto a 200 inch screen?
Thnks v much - heat added
Thanks OP just rented it on Amazon as I dont have apple tv. Do you think that apple tv will become available on older TVs? ( I have a 2017 oled )
Amazing movie
Brilliant film

How far away are you sitting (metres) and how tall are you (feet and inches)?

4k will be better if you are close enough

Basically an Indiana Jones movie, the gimmick is good, for a while, but a bit daft really

Watched this a few weeks ago, thought it would be a bit rubbish but actually it's really very engrossing - one of the best films I've seen in a while.
Awesome film, good price, heat added!
I’ve watched far better! Wish I didn’t waste my money on it at the cinema That time .

Most overrated I’ve ever watched, yeah I get the camera work work was “revolutionary” got on my t*ts after 20 minutes. Please don’t waste your money
Thx OP just watched it. Good movie. Great deal.
Good acting, banal plot.
Amazon 4k is garbage. They don't take their 4K offering seriously. Stick to Apple to build your library.
Ill wait until its free on Prime
same price for rent on iTunes
Better than Parasite. #ChangeMyMind
Love this film.
I find the 4K on Prime video too dark. I've always had to fiddle with the settings. Maybe it's just me. Standard SD and HD look better to me on Prime

Thanks. About 4 metres in both situations.
Decided to watch on LG C9 65", because better sound system in that room and the deeper blacks of the TV were necessary I think.
Good film, but wouldn't watch again.

Thanks. Agreed. Deep blacks of an OLED tv are beneficial for this film too.
Crap film tbh, camera work is decent and that's it.
Amazing movie. Absolutely a must watch whether you like war movies or not!
