Yeah that's a fair point if you don't like to use covers, but I've literally never had a phone I didn't put a protective case on. So for me the appearance of the back doesn't matter.

I guess it's down to how you like to use your phone. I always feel bad about putting a case on as they do look much better without them, but I like to make my phones last as long as I can, so most of the time a case is essential.

I bought this during Black Friday and not noticed any WiFi issues; Bluetooth is on pretty much constantly for sync to watch, car etc.

Screen is really good and battery life is amazing. Photo quality is good but like most struggles a bit at night in low light. Here's an example of a night time shot where lighting wasn't too bad.39602213-WS5Jc.jpg

It's either this or wait till end of Feb for Samsung's new line-up. Overall I think this will offer the best bang for buck.

Has anyone got one? What do they think of it?
Great phone & camera
No Samsung bloat!

Also it's got NFC which most of the g7 range didn't have

Can you get this with a smaller screen? Can't seem to see one
I'm tempted, but the back looks horrible.

You'll be lucky to get anything under 6" screen or 150mm overall length these days not exactly pocket friendly!!!

I agree, but I always put a rubber back cover on mine so should be fine.

What about the Samsung Galaxy m30s been looking for a decent phone with great battery. Liked the g7 power and the m30s but not sure what one to get. Have a key2 but fancy something different.

Xiaomi phones should be the ones you might want to look at maybe.

Do these have a compass or is there the same infuriating omission of this function as with other Motos?
I will never buy another Motorola phone after the way they treated customers when their official update ruined people's Moto Z phones, they denied all knowledge of a 'widespread problem ' despite their own forum pages having 1000s of posts about it.

Did you have to tweak the photo settings at all? I'm finding my photos coming out slightly off, but I can't figure out why.
Anyone got any thoughts, this or the Samsung A40?

Anyone got any thoughts, this or the Samsung A40?

I'm stuck between these two, A40 lower spec and the A41 due out end of Feb. But more than importantly to me the A40 is only 144mm in length. I'd rather the G8 plus but I'm concerned it will be too big to fit in my pocket!

My dilemma exactly! I prefer the size of the A40 but is it worth compromising on the specs compared to the G8?
I got this in the Amazon £190 offer. Really nice phone and good camera compared to my previous g5.

I wish it was a little smaller and the finger print button would lock the phone (like my g5 did).

I would be upgrading from a g5, is the size difference a hindrance i.e carrying it in a jeans pocket?

It's fine in a jeans pocket once you put a decent case on it. Main issues are that you can't use it with one hand, finger print scanner is on rear and it's much heavier.

Having said that is lightening fast, camera is good and it's stock Android.

My wife did this upgrade and is really pleased with the phone esp. cf the G5 which whilst has been flawless was struggling with lack of capacity. The backs not as bad as sounds either, take a look in a shop before you commit. We always use folding cases on our phones anyway (I got the yellow S10E on a special members price but in the case you can't tell what colour it is).
Can someone confirm if this phone is running 64 bit or 32 bit android

I would stay the hell away from anything Motorola. I've had 3 phones in 2019 alone.........All G7 and G6 series. But all gave me problems to no end.
Warranty and customer service can only be described as a sham, con, or virtually non existent. Customer service is not UK based so they can scream at you or fob you off if you complain too much.
There were numerous problems with the G7 series and moto knew about this.
I would stay away...even if you get a good one, you are looking tops 2/3 months then you start having problems.

Yes I've got the m30s. Its probably the best mid ranger in this price bracket. Battery is flawless too. I get nearly 2 days and I'm a heavy user, browsing, videos, gaming, calls, thethering etc. The lot....maybe the phone with best call signal I've had

Mines been okay so far, only annoying issue I've had so far is that sometimes the mobile network takes forever to connect
Bought the Moto g7 plus after having the g5, worst thing I ever did. Nothing but problems, Google it and you will see all the problems regarding volume of calls, vibrate not working, etc. Don't waste your money
Seems to tick all the boxes, Dolby Sound, OIS, EIS, something to replace my old Axon 7, anything else as good value with these features?? I'm struggling to find one.

It starts from there...give it a few months and then the sun stops shinning. When you try to claim on the warranty....all I can say is good luck.
Samsung always better and more straight forward. I'll go for a budget Samsung than this 5h1te

Agree but not the same price bracket. A40 is smaller but lower spec.
I've got Moto g6 plus. Okay budget phone but very buggy software especially when you try clearing your browser history, crashes 9 out of 10 times.

Had my X4 for over 2 years without any issues other than the typical battery degradation. Had Moto phones for 6 years and trust them as they've been more reliable than Sony or Samsung ones with less bloat

Fair enough. I didn't compare the price point, just a pocket friendly phone
