The processor is ****!

Price should read £211.49 to include delivery.;-)

These are very slim (its an external DVD writer), and a the via processor is about PIII-700 speed, but ok for web browsing and casual use.

Its better to stretch to the £299 acer though.

Have to agree the processor is terrible... I wouldn't even recommend it for web browsing.

I see you looking at new computer deals quite a lot siliconbits, don't tell me the computer you bought off me has blown up already?? :giggle:

And BTW folks a 1.5ghz processor and 512mb ram is fine for web browsing, my gran still has a P3 with 128mb ram and she surfs quite happily. How much power do you think is needed to open Google.com? ;-)

hahaha... your PC is fine... although the DVD writer is playing tricks on me... I lost both my desktop PC (which I use as a PVR) and my dual core laptop last month... So I am shopping around for a sub £300 laptop with warranty....

I have to agree that the 1.5GHz processor should be fine especially since it is using Windows XP Home rather than Vista ;-)

I am thinking of buying either this one or the slightly more expensive Asus EEE...

Does anyone of you have any benchmarks laying around??

My father in law has had a laptop running a viac7 chipset for about 18 months, he uses email, surfs the net and uses openoffice and picassa, runs AVG free and a firewall for security, he doesn't download needless rubbish, or constantly instal & uninstal programmes and it runs just fine...it's no dual core, but for some people this is all you need. (wouldn't recommend it for video editing)
Voted warm (after all it is a refurb) well spotted.

I was using a PII, 333 mhz, 128 mb Dell not all that long ago and webby surfing was fine as long as you didn't throw anything too complex at it or tried to download huge files.

If all you do is post on forums you don't need too much at all:p

A decent 1.5GHz CPU is fine but this isn’t a decent CPU but more like an 800MHz P3. If you really know you want to walk slowly rather than run then the price is good; otherwise spend the extra and get something with a future.
