1Gb Hyperoptic Broadband for £34 p/m (12 mth contract) £408

Found 8th Jan
Was checking out the New Year deals on Hyperoptic's website as my 12 month contract had just run out (along with the discounted introductory price) and called up (0333 332 1111) hoping to be eligible for the advertised £49 p/m New Year 1Gb deal, only to instantly be offered 1Gb for £34 p/m!

No haggling, or threats to cancel subscription, they simply opened with that offer.

Hyperoptic not available in all areas, so offer is limited by Post Code at the very least. Hope this helps someone out.

Great deal! I was offered the same but opted to go for the 150mb package for £23/month
Good if they had better coverage

If only they were available where I am, was too excited to have moved somewhere that had virgin media at 200mbps down, I didn’t check the up, which is only 12mbps
Sorry, our service is not yet available for you

The upload speed is rarely prominent in the advertising.
My provider is quite unusual in giving a symmetric service (100mbps down and up).

Pretty much only available in apartment buildings
Pretty much only at select apartment buildings inside London from what I can tell.

Available in mine in Manchester. But yes, apartment blocks in big cities. Ho boy is it worth joining when it's available, I've had downloads from steam be bottlenecked by the speed of my hard drive!

Birmingham too, if that helps anyone.
Internet speeds and prices are ridiculous in this country! Back to the 80s....

A mechanical hard drive can easily absorb 1Gbs they can theoretically achieve ~4.8Gb/s but will realistically manage 2-3Gb/s the HDD won't be a bottleneck.

Remember gigabit internal networks have been around for many many years.

Man only they offer to people living in residential areas
What I checked only is in big buildings in town and apartments, not even registering interest in my area

It was an old 3.5" 1TB drive, pretty full and heavily fragmented. The worst of the worst. But yes, with SSDs I'm pretty easily able to hit 115MB/s from steam.
Seems to be fairly widely available by me in Brentwood, Essex
Ok so we can get in our flat but I'm very reluctant to give up BT Sport. Is there a legal way to get BT sport on my telly while using hyperopic? I am not tech savvy so it has to be kept simple.

You can get BT Sport via Sky, or if you have your mobile on BT or EE, you can get it on an app.

"back to the 80's" is a metaphor. It's a figure of speech, if you seriously didn't understand....

I used to live in another country in Europe. 10 years ago a 1Gbps fiber-optic internet was standard stuff in most of the households. For £5-10/month. Without any stupid line rentals.

Communication infrastructure is quite messed up here in UK. But that's not a surprise with 50 utility poles sticking out in every street and water pipes attached to outside walls
