Kingston ram is very good.

DaBear

Very good ram if you aren't planning to overclock.

Who overclocks laptops in general? :whistling:

That is a smashing price! Last year when I was looking for RAM for my macbook I was looking at a 'mere' £150 for 2GB. This is just unbeatable value :w00t:

I edited while you were replying when I noticed it was for laptops!

ordered - thanks!

Top price, voted ++ :thumbsup:

I have :whistling:

How do i found out if it will fit my laptob and also the maximum i can buy please?

My laptop is a sony Vaio VGN-A215M ive never bought memory before.
Thank you

Can i use this memory on the sony vaio VGN-C1S/W that i ordered last week?

Thankyou

Excellent spot. Had been looking at the 7dayshop memory at the same price but they charge P&P and there was no brand/warranty information. So just ordered a couple to upgrade my AOL Inspiron 1520. Thanks!

Not totally up on ma computers,
Is this basically 1GB of extra RAM for a laptop??
My laptop currently only has 512mb of RAM, what will the extra RAM do for my computer???
cheers in advance for any help:thumbsup:

If my laptop supports lower RAM clockrate from this one, will this module auto-fallback to my supported clockrate or simply will not work?

Cheers

You'll usually be OK plugging a PC5300 chip (or PC6400) chip into a PC4200 laptop.

It's no different to plugging a PC3200 chip into a PC2700 motherboard with a desktop PC.

To answer several questions here.

To check what Kingston Valueram memory is recommended for a laptop, best to use the Kingston website at:
ec.kingston.com/eco…oot

It is basically a single 1GB memory module for modern (last 1-3 years) laptop PC. As it's a DDR2 module it should ideally be installed in a laptop that has 'dual channel' memory access - ie can access TWO memory modules at the same time for extra performance - hence you would install TWO IDENTICAL memory modules. The Kingston website illustrates slots/configurations etc.

Installation is normally a very simple/unskilled process and detailed either in your laptop's manual or else on the memory manufacturer website/leaflet. Only four real rules: turn off laptop - not hibernate - off; unplug power supply and make sure you don't/won't accidentally turn laptop back on; don't zap the modules with static as you remove old ones and insert new ones; if you are having to apply too much physical force you have probably not put the module the right way round and/or at the right angle.

The sony Vaio VGN-A215M is shown by Kingston as using older/simpler standard memory ie DDR not DDR2 and 333 speed not 667 - ie NOT suited.
see ec.kingston.com/eco…rch

The other Sony VGN-C1S/W says 1GB DDR2-533 SO DIMM - so this s/be suitable as it's a HIGHER specification being 667 rather than just 533. The memory modules usually have technical info ('SPD') on them as to how they should be used by the motherboard with lower bus speeds (eg my desktop memory at 266MHz is CAS# Latency 4 but at 333MHz goes to CAS# Latency 5 etc etc)

Hi
I am using Inspiron 500m dell laptop with the following;

Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: No
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1400MHz Model 9, Stepping 5
CPU Speed: 699 MHz

Currently installed memory:DDR PC2300 (2 slots)

Can I upgrade the above kingston memory one.

I scanned my comp with crucial memory and it says i can use a DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR333 • 2.5V • 128Meg x 64

Iam not a comuter whiz. Any help will be appreciated:)

This is excellent price. Sadly have bought Corsair value 2GB for £40 two days ago from ebay. Should have wait a bit longer!

This is NOT suitable as it's a DDR2 SODIMM which is logically/physically different to a DDR SODIMM.

See the Kingston configurator for your model:

Cool, Memory for the GR Sony Vaio. Prob is that the sony vaio comes with 2x512. I wish It came with just 1. Well, This is pretty cheap anyway

Nice find

Does anyone know that exact model is it? Because my Lenovo is quite stubborn with memories.

Thanks a lot mk-donald:)

why wish it came with 1?remove both 512 dimms and replace with the 1gig dimms to total 2gig of ram which will be way better than 1gig and will have no trouble running any vista functions.

Most laptops use cheaper memry this would be a good investment.

Could somebody help me as Im confused! These are the details of my laptop from the Kingston site:

Thanks for the info.

Shame, I wouldnt mind paying £36 but £132 from dabs?!?

I'm afraid that's the peril of buying a laptop with a proprietary memory module design, rather than a generic/standard memory module design where the competition/economies-of-scale can influence price a lot more.

Cheerio - feed your SPECIFIC maker and model into the Kingston memory selector. This memory is as good any any other standard 1GB 200-pin SODIMM PC5300 667MHz CL5 - and has a lifetime warranty. Kingston are a very long standing, respected memory module manufacturer.

Cheaper than Ebuyer.

I'm gonna buy two for my Mac Mini

Surely there's no point in buying just one of these? Don't you need to install them as a pair?

Will this work with a Dell Inspiron 6000?

Was gonna get 2 but then realised, these are gonna be sent by royal mail - there might be a long wait before they'll come, specially as it's from jersey aswell cause that's usually about 4-5 days without strikes.

Might be better off using another shop with a courier sevice.

Sorry to be another pain but i have a packart bell easynote MV45 duo core, anybody know if this fit, as ive ordered 2 gig.

also just ordered 2gb...but can someone confirm that this is suitable for a Dell 1501?

thanks

is there any difference between pc5300 and pc2-5300 i run a crucial scan on my laptop and it says its compatible with pc2-5300 so is this suitable thanks!!
