 Well that's according to this review: ]http//ww…90/.

Other then that it seems to be very positive:thumbsup:

I got one of these a month ago in their Today Only deal for £136 odd, so this is definitely an even bigger bargain.

The fan is pretty loud though.

Cheers, I was hoping someone who owned this card could confirm the fan issue.

Would you say it was bearable or excessive?

the fan is fine when you arent playing games, but gets pretty damn loud when you play games, if you play with headphones it wont be a problem...

you can manually fix the speed of the fan tho, I have mine at "28%" which seems to be a sweet spot before i can start to hear it. My case does have very good air flow tho, so this might not be an advisable thing to do for people with different cases..

Nice find, hot from me

wow smoking hot deal

brilliant card, although if i could go back in time i would get an XFX as my card cant seem to hit the magical 1ghz even with a volt mod, plus xfx's warranty covers overclocking never the less, CRACKING DEAL SO HOT.

Oh it's certainly bearable. Definitely the loudest thing in my case, but it's not too distracting. When I'm gaming I have the sound up so I can't hear it anyway.

Hot deal, great price.

Just to warn people about scan, I had just recently sent my faulty motherboard. I had tested with all my components + components from my other computer. Still didn’t boot, so sent it back (on the last year of warranty). They said they tested it and it was fine and told me I would have to pay £20 to get it back.

I know for a fact it was faulty and asked them if they could test again, had an email come back saying they would charge an extra £5 + VAT for the test.

I have bought all my components off them for 3 years and I don’t think I will be buying off them again.

I had similar problems. I returned what I considered to be a faulty product within warranty. They tested it and told me it was okay and would not return it until I paid up £20. Total outlay was £30 including the original postage to send it to them and I still have a product that I consider defective. Not terribly pleasant experience really. and also to note. however reputable the make of product you buy from them if something goes wrong, the product will be going back to Scan for testing, not the original maker so it will be their opinion you will have to rely on. Apart from this i must say that this is a good deal in relation to price.

Hi, does anyone have any opinions on how big an improvement might be obtained if coming from a 4850?

Cheers!

wont be that much of an improvement unless you play at big resolutions and if i were you i would hold out for directx11 i mean your 4850 should be able to handle pretty much anything.

Scan suck big time, customer service is very poor, would never buy from again. Judicious buyer go to Novatech, Ebuyer, Play if you require service that returns well if you encounter DOA components. Nasty staff at Scan.

Good deal of course if it all goes ok. Scan suck. Take ya chance...

would you advise the same for mine. i have a 8800gtx

been unsure whether to hold out for dx11 cards or not. these great cards are shooting down in price so qucikly!

Meh, not a bad deal but I warn you, Powercolor generally have pretty loud fans especially at load. I've got a close to silent HIS 4870 IceQ 4+ Turbo 1GB coming from Ebuyer for £108, was a limited stock offer so I didn't post on here just in case someone nabbed it from me :P

I've got a 640mb GTS and I think I will have a little plurge and go for it.

Good deal, but considering whom you're buying it from, you may as well turn the other way and run as far as you can. In my experience buying from scan and ebuyer is an exercise in masochism. They offer little to no after sale support and in the end you have to spend at least £15 on each and every call because they have expensive support lines.

Plus they're extremely idiotic in their methods. That is, you call customer service where a woman who barely knows anything about computers takes down your fault then asks you to give the tech department a for help with the issue. Then you end up calling tech support who always have 16 people in queue, wait for another 20 mins, get billed for another £10 cause its an 0845/0844 number only to get thorugh to an indian call centre.

I need not say more, as the moment you get through to an indian call centre you know you're going to be told that theres nothing wrong with the product.service youre calling about, in fact the problem is with you.

Stick to buying stuff form PLAY.COM, excellent support. Stay WELL AWAY from scan and ebuyer.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has issues with SCAN. The word should be spread to let other people know what they are in for and the warranty that they offer seems to be a con to.:x

This is a deal post guys. If you have problems with a retailer take it up with them, the manufacturer & sue them if you have too. Complain on their forums too if you must - ][email protected] / ]eBuyer Forums / ]Novatech Forums.

Surprising to hear about Scan & eBuyer, as they seem to be amongst the better ones, but nobody's perfect I guess (OK, Amazon & Crucial come close!). Overclockers appear to get the most flak on here for their poor service (in deal posts ), but as I recall, one cannot even complain about this on their forums.

And this is why I don't usually listen to the posts on here. Everyone has a different opinion, and it's usually based on their own (impatience!) and experience.

I have a friend who never orders from anywhere other than Overclockers - honestly! - because they have never, ever let him down. He won't buy from ebuyer because they got three orders wrong in a row, and it took them a month to sort them out.

ebuyer screwed up a few of my orders too, but I've started using them again because they've really sorted themselves out in the last three or four years.

My friend won't buy from Play, because their customer service is inflexible. I love Play, because they've always been really helpful.

And here you are recommending Amazon as nearly perfect - and I can't stand them. They've shafted me more times than I've changed my socks.

You just can't take other peoples experiences for granted, and expect to feel the same way. So I tend to just ignore it when people say 'X is a terrible store, they have no idea about Y'.

This bit me in the ass when people were warning off Shopto though, as I had my credit card scammed very shortly afterwards. It could have been coincidence, but I'm careful with my data, and it had never happened before....

PS. Crucial - What a company! Best I've ever dealt with. But I bet *someone* here has a horror story.

I prefer it when people give me advice on their experience with the company that I would be buying the deal from. This would help with my decision weather or not to buy the product and what the risks might be.

The big problem is people buying hardware not knowing what they are doing, Imagine how many people buy a graphics card that requires a 500w psu then they send it back saying it doesnt work,This is why they do their own testing using the proper PSUs and other equiptment,Scan are one of the better companies but just make sure you know what is required before you buy something,
