Seems like a great deal to me. I'm not sure whether to go for this, a 1GB 5770 or a 1GB GTX 460. A good deal nonetheless.

Im no Nvidia fan boy, like my AMD stuff, but the GT460 1GB is a much better option for similer money..

ATI need to make this card sub £100!

i think its good as a gtx 160 1gb is about £165.

Cheers. I was thinking about a GTX 460 pre-overclocked to 800mhz (scan.co.uk/Pro…Sub for £175) but if this one's almost as good it would save me a fair amount.

I bought a GTX 460 2gb (palit sonic) but got to admit if there was 2 cards that came close to having me swap based on price and performance it was the GTX 470 and the 5830, for this price I'd go with the 5830 unless you really want to pay the extra for a marginal extra oomph. I love the extra oomph cos then it plays longer but if the price is right then you can just upgrade sooner or get 2 5830's or whatever.

At this price it's probably the best bang for buck your going to find though.

Definately best Bang for Buck of current gen graphics cards as this price. H.O.T.

A lot of GPU power for the money.

stonking card for that money, just a shame there's no stock and no hope of getting at that price

I assume not worth looking at this over my current 4890?

Not really, only marginally faster but DX11.

This is good value to be perfectly honest.

Decisions, do I ditch my Sapphire HD5770 for this or do I buy another 5770 for crossfire...

Sell the 5770 now on ebay for £80 and buy a 6770 when it comes out in 3 months?

what do I use in the meantime :-)

I think going for another HD5770 and been between the 5850/70 is my best option, or like you say wait for the next series.

What is the length of this card ? I was considering getting a gtx460 but may reconsider if this cards dimensions will be suitable.

the card is the same size as a 5870, its exactly the same (think of the crappy 5870's that are binned and used as 5830's). The power usage is about the same or a tad lower than a 5870 so its not so power efficient iirc, however performance is about 10/15% less than gtx 460 so its a great price tbh!.

Only reason i didnt get one of these or a 5850 is because i plan on adding a gtx 460 in my rig later down the line for SLI 460's :D.

Hot!.

I only have the one pcie 6 pin power cable on my psu but from what I've read most cards come with a molex to pcie cable so would I be able to use this or even the gtx460?

Getting 2 second hand 5770s in crossfire was the best £200 I ever spent Just be sure to stick with the 10.4a Catalyst drivers for now if you do, the more current crop have crossfire issues.

I got an nVidia base mobo - this be ok?
P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe + 550W PSU - yea i know its old but woud it be worth it?

I canceled my order for a GTX 460 overclocked immediately after ordering it from Scan and got an email late the next day saying I did it too late and that they had dispatched it. Ah well for £175 I'm still getting a great deal and it's much better performing

The GTX 460 is better - but much more money. The key to which is best for you comes down to you monitor size. If you have a full HD 1920x1080 monitor - then the extra on the 460 or a 5850 will be worth it. If you have a smaller monitor resolution, then this will be by far the best deal for you

amazing deal!! everybody saying the gtx 460 is faster is talking about the 1gb version which is £165 at the cheapest!! this is as fast as the gtx 460 768mb version but around £20 cheaper so this is a great deal!!
EDIT: WOW!! i just noticed this has 60 month warranty with scan / XFX.
very, very good bang for buck!! 4890 performance and great crossfire scaling and results!! only slight problem is power consumption and size :(! XFX have recently reduced their ATI cards to the prices where they really should be right now to compete with an challenge the GTX 460 768mb and 1gb versions!!
5750 = £82
5770 = £106
5830 = £123
5850 = £187
great stuff !!
