I have tried these a number of times - they seem to be rejects from a number of different manufacturers because sometimes you get 'hard' base Jaffas and sometimes 'soft' base ones like McVities or Sainsbury's are. It's a lottery but if you're anything like me, having a gigantic amount of jaffas, with the bonus that some may be stuck together and definitely only count as one, is pretty much amazing. I've never had a 'bad' Jaffa like the tango ones or whatever in one of these.
Only ever have had the really hard base ones from this, not enjoyable in the slightest in my opinion.
Don't hard bases mean they've gone off? Leave a jaffa cake out and you'll see what i mean.

Yes it does, it was actually a key argument in defining jaffa cakes as a cake rather than a biscuit.

Implying that Tango jaffa cakes are bad.

Not necessarily - if you buy cheap Jaffas (say, smartprice ones or Aldi's ones that come in a wrapper, not a box) and you'll see that they are hard even when 'fresh'. Soft Jaffas are usually an indicator of better quality, but some hard ones are perfectly OK and occasionally you get some soft ones that are powdery and awful. I can't remember the brand but I got some from Home Bargains once and they were soft but awful.

It's been a while, maybe I'm thinking of the wrong brand. But I don't remember them being good.

Smash windaes wi them
I think so, from what I remember the box I bought wasn't even a sealed bag inside the box. Just inside an open carrier-type bag.
