I voted hot as this is surely a good deal in itself for a kilo.
Some Asian shops used to sell a 4kg bag cheaper ...However, I think some have now increased their prices too....

And as OP says, not everyone uses a 4kg bag....

unless one has an asian shop near one, and one needs 4 kg onions and other items It's probably gonna cost one more in petrol

I will stick to supermarkets, as produce is class A also

I’m finding that the sizes of the onions in the bag are smaller than before. There”s now more onions in a packet but smaller. I hate peeling onions at the best of times, but now I’m peeling twice as many.
Anyway, heat added for price.

Asian food shops there always cheap there
Onions will get cheaper as English and Dutch stored product start to soften and internally shoot. Best looking out for Egyptian and New Zealand new crop.
That's a decent price for red, though Morrisons Wonky (brown) onions are always 42p/kg
I always use red onions whenever I can - I prefer the taste, slightly sweeter.

It will only get better in time, you won't have to travel far.
From experience , red onions are always better in quality and last longer.
But you are right super markets do sell class A, and you pay for it.

If you do happen to get bargain you can always deep fry it and store it in freezer without compromising quality

Personally I like the Aldi reds as they store quite well and as other people say I don't want 4kg+ of the things.
