Good buy - hot from me

great value !

MMMMMM. rioja at £4 and a wedge of cheese, oh my diet is already falling apart!:santa:

Leave it at room temperature until Christmas and should be nicely ripe.

cheese gromit.

Anyone tried to cold smoke stilton or is it something you shouldn't do?
..I love Stilton, & I love smoked cheese ..so it's gotta be asked.

Got one yesterday. Intending to keep it for Christmas. Anybody tried theirs yet?

It will probably be overripe by Christmas and inedible, I'm sure it's not cheap out of the goodness of their hearts. It's very variable is Stilton, needs tasting first and eating soonish, I've had loads of rough Stilton over the years so I'm very wary now. If it looks too good to be true ........

I'm fairly sure there's no law against eating a good chunk of stilton a couple of weeks before xmas

1kg of Stilton is too much for me. I could probably manage 100g a year - in fact I don't think I've had any this year or last year.

A bargain! Nicely spotted...usually get the Port'n'Stilton at Christmas...but it's early this year!!!

cheesus thats a lot!

:-) I bet I could eat this wheel in one evening, which is why I won't let myself buy one. Bargain for those who have more self-control though.

Colour ad for this in today's Evening Standard (London). Small print said it runs to 8 December (Tuesday)and along lines not necessarily in all stores (probably their cop out for motorway services etc).

Made me truckle !!!!

It's a lot of cheese, but at least it can be cut up into smaller pieces and frozen.
Heat given!

These wheels are bigger than I thought and great value for £4.99.

I am sure Stilton is sold at the optimum "crumbly and zingy" state with the use by date reflecting how long the "crumbly and zingy" state lasts.

It carries on ripening a few weeks after this but starts to break down into a more mushy/creamy cheese which loses its edge so it's no longer the Stilton it was.

I don't know if it is 100% safe to eat when it starts to go into this state.....it never lasts that long in my house !!!

I agree Mr Rossi, if it's too much for you then cut some into small chunks and freeze it, it makes a fab stir-thru with hot pasta! Also, Splonkop, I shouldn't think M&S sell rubbish cheese so I would guess it's a decent quality. I'm gonna have a go ;-)

I've used it in cooking many times when it's reached that state and it still tasted absolutely fine, if just a little stronger.....and I'm still here so I'm sure it's perfectly safe to eat like that :-D

Hot. Still some left today.

New stocks delivered to my local store this morning
