1Mb Broadband £9.99 per month

17
Found 8th Jan 2007
Spent some time looking at the larger suppliers of broadband today (for my retired parents).

This seemed like a good deal - boradband for £9.99 per month.

Unlike some of the other deals - the rate STAYS at £9.99 per month, plus you get free weekend and evening calls.

Fairly slow speed (compared to others), but for those who just want to browse the net etc, it could be ideal.

Is it a Kazakhstani company?

I have this. Speed an reliability is OK so far. The 9.99 is the locked in for 12 month deal. You can get £50 cash back with an Egg credit card though. Also, the free phone calls part is the same as the BT minimum £11 a month all in deal.

Thanks everyone.

Virgin is owned by NTL (which did put me off a bit because I have had bad experiences of NTL).

They seem fairly easy going about creeping over the allowance (unless you abuse it). But my parents are nearly 70, so won't be downloading music and films - they just like looking at the net.

That's incredibly low. :?

I am with NTL. In the summer I called them up and told that I was offered free broadband by Orange (as part of their mobile phone package). NTL have reduced my bill from £17.99 to £9.99 per month for 2mb.

I told my friend and he tried the same trick. His was reduced to £11.99. So NTL are willing to reduce as long as you threaten to leave. The reduction is dependant on the advisor you talk to - i obviously talked to friendly one:-D

Give it a try!

i would recommend going with telewest

i think its £10 for 2mb for the first year

no download caps

after the first year cancel or they should be able to keep giving it to u for £10

UK Online also have the same price of £9.99 for the 1mb service and is has no usage allowance.
you will only get this price though if their network is in your area.

UK Online are quite good an I personally have the 2mb service at £14.99.

Yup, AOL generally OK. Tech support great if you get through to Ireland, but other callcentres seem to have a more 'scripted' approach. TS was free until about a year ago, now 0870 number.

AOL recently bought out by Carphone Warehouse (at least in UK) and have released new T&Cs, which imply that there MAY be download caps in future, but are not specific.

Change in T&Cs does release you from their existing contract if you wish, but who knows whether they want to leave without knowing what the caps might be??? As yet, unpublished.....:-(

If you're just browsing and emailing then 3GB is not a problem - this was the OP's requirement.
And, like Orange, unless you go totally mad, Virgin will not complain if you go over this cap.

I've just called ntl about my broadband service, I've have had a couple of 3 month £9.99 deals for 2mb which have just rum out. They've just offered £9.99 for 12 months for the 2mb! I only waited on the line for about 5 mins as well!

Thanks for the info and original post guys
