Yes, I have smaller capacity version and very happy with it. Seems a good price considering most internal 1TB drives are £70+

I have seen the same @pcworld little bit more ~79.99

good price!!

Anyone know what the cheapest eSATA 1TB drive around is?

No, this is USB2...

This is 3.5"

I think the cheapest 1TB eSATA drive is the Western Digital My Book. They have poorish reputation for reliability. About £100 from Amazon.

I've been using one for the past few years and it's been superb just like all the WD drives i've had.

What are you talking about? That's what I put in the heading!

( Thanks - changed it ;-) )

pity this doesn't have a power switch so you can leave it plugged in and only turn it on when required ...

:whistling:

Hot for the price though.

Surely it does? All the external drives I've ever owned have had an on/off switch.

The technical guy wasn't technical enough ;-)

From the spec sheet: Formatted Capacity 1,000,204 MB

Which equals 976.76 GB or 0.95 TB. Hard drive manufacturers have been getting away with this scam for years.

Have you seen the lacie?
http://www.lacie.com/imgstore/product_large/hd_poultondesktop_triple_5.jpg
No noisy fan and it has a power switch

scan.co.uk/Pro…858

Although this seems like a good price, it only has a 2 year warranty whereas the Seagate ones have a 5 year warranty.

This doesn't guarantee against data loss I think, but then no one can.

The Seagate Freestyle one on Ebuyer is £93.

Like everything in life, its about risk and how you manage that risk.

Now that is very very pretty! Wasn't looking to spend that much but I'm finding it hard to choose another!
