Seems like they're pretty cheap on amazon too. They're £79.99 with free delivery. Link ]here.

Better for what reason?

this drive is the bee's knees i have got 3 different external and this is the best

i had one of the Fuji one till it corrupted and lost me data werent very happy

I got one from Play for about £75 with the 5% offer and quidco...

I think I'd try to use amazon in future - amazon put things in bigger boxes, well packaged - Play put the harddrive's own small box inside... a plastic bag... and the small box had taken a couple of knocks, which was kind of inevitable...

This is from memory, so anyone buying might want to double check: The Fujitsu has a metal case, but a potentialy slower 5,400 rpm drive. That shouldn't make any difference on a USB drive. For this reason I'd prefer the Fujitsu.

no eSATA so not for me

Scan send via City Link so I'll go with the Amazon personally. Even HDN is better than City Link around me!

could i back up all my DVDs on this?

also, is it ready to go out the box or does it need fragging?

Yes but you'd have to rip each dvd first, either to an iso file or using the normal structure.
200+ normal dvd's. It will work out of the box. I'm not sure what fragging is.

you usually use 2 fingers with fragging!!

Fragging = defragmentation....no you don't need to do this.

The customer services at amazon is not what it once was. I don't think returns are free anymore and they have also stopped the price refunds which was very good.

No esata so rubbish.

LOL, and do it in the ragging?

There's no data on it , so nothing to frag. Do you perhaps mean formatting?

No, defrag = defragmentation.
Either way, the disk is blank so nothing to defrag.

it requires to be powered up externally. All 3.5 HDD's do but the 2.5" ones cost almost double these do and sometimes require 2 USB ports.

Its now on the scan today only page at £72.84 inc vat, very tempting

LOL. Thanks. Repped both of you and amended the deal.

does anyone know were i would be able to get a 1tb hard drive external which would be below £100 and doesnt require a power supply. at the moment i have a buffalo 250 gig that doesnt need power supply and another 250 gig that does need power supply but both are jammed pack with songs.

failing that i was thinking on trying to buy an external harddrive casing that doesnt need power supply and fitting a 1tb hard drive into it. is this possible?

no. the largest drives (as far as I'm aware) that you can fit are the 2.5" 500GB ones, but they're not cheap.
