Cold, cheaper at Aria(yes I know that doesnt include postage but when I buy from aria I usually buy a few things so postage doesn't matter)

Banned

Voted hot - comes with free carriage of course

(Oh - and it's free carriage via AV Forums as well .. not just Hexus)

Actually jonohanson is doubly wrong - as Aria doesn't have a 2gb pendrive with their offer... so 2 quid for 2 gig as well... definitely hot

it isnt that was £75 without postage for me for same HDD model and a random 2gb stick. anyway the offer has to be considered with postage therefore it cant be found cheaper,

I want a WD as they are reliable for me so find the WD and not cheaper if you think the other is better post it

You mean like the WD I posted?? I put 2 drives on there!!

Must be nice to be able to dismiss Aria's £6.95 delivery charge as negligible. However, as with most deals posted here, people will most likely be purchasing that one item, so postage is a factor. This is why the delivered price must be included in the title.

As I said for the item Aria is cheaper, am I wrong?? As for postage I order more with aria so the postage on larger orders does become negligible.

but that is the thing a deal has to be considered with the price of postage scan you can get free aria not therefore it isnt a better offer (thats the rules)

Indeed. For the Aria proposition to work out cheaper overall you'd need to buy 3 of em. Perfect for anyone that needs 3TB of storage, not so hot for the average user.

does the average user even need 1TB?

I would say so. I intend to buy one so that I can store more than 1 full backup of my system at a time. I'm currently limited to 1 full backup plus a months worth of incrementals on my 400GB external. A 1TB drive will let me double that, and have extra peace of mind in the possible event of backup corruption. I'd hate to lose my digital photo and music collection. There's some precious memories there.

Is this a 7200RPM drive?

Apparently they stopped it cos people where taking the wee-wee with orders under 20 quid... but it looks like they've fixed it so people can't have free carriage under that value now.... so it came back a little while ago

They may need that amount soon as the various High Definition media takes 3 times as much memory as standard quality.

But yeah, it's just a luxury for the Mr Average.

Mr average is a strange guy though; He has 2.5 children. I wonder if he got the fast half or the noisy half ;-)

The average PC user doesn't even know what xvid or divx are, let alone Matroska or HD .wmv files.

They're happy with a 250GB HDD and MS Works ;-)

Even SD to record a decent amount of TV or put your DVD's on a duke box without compression (best not to lose the quality) it takes lots of space - I'm adding one to my media server which currently only has 1.5TB, low power and temp make this drive ideal for serving DVD over the network.

3 of these in RAID5 and you're set for all the content storage you'll ever need! HOT!

Run out of space? Buy another one and expand the array

western digital dum dum dum

Agreed, the average user will not need 1Tb.

What about those of us who don't get free delivery?
Surely then the Aria deal would offer better value.

+1 woot!

hot, would've ordered this if I could!

Ordered - thanks!

you can sign up and make 20 posts and get free delivery!

i used avforums but assume the same:
forums.hexus.net/gen…tml

Btw. if you cant order today so that you can tomorrow place it in the basket login and then get firefox to save open pages (save and quit) and for me atleast when it loads up again i have the same order at the same price!

Really? How many people now have hundreds of gigabytes of digital photo's that need saving and backing up? With the megapixel race in the digital camera arena, photo sizes are only going to get bigger too.

So suddenly, having more than 1 backup of your digital media files requires a 1TB drive.

For anyone unaware of when Scan's "Today Only" offers run out, here's a quote from their today only page...
