Pretty sure this drive is one of a very small selection that work in the Samsung Sky HD box.

I have this drive and it is by far the noisiest of my three 1TB drives (others being a WD Green Power and the Samsung F1). Personally for storage usage I thing the WD Green Power seems the best to me, but it will cost you around £10 more.

This hard disk is rather slow... I should know cos I have one. Just bought a Samsung F1 cos I ran out of space.

Unless my maths are wrong:

"Stores Upto 2460 Action Packed Games"

I can't remember the last time I saw a 400mb game...

especially once you pack a lot of action into it.. never going to fit

when are the 640GB drives going to drop in price?

this is hot. I have a few of these drives and I like them.

I brought my first samsung in sept 2008 and it died within a month and I lost my OS partition which I had to rebuild, swore never to buy another Samsung again.

3.5" dosent work on PS3 only 2.5" does. COLD and misleading.

Where's the mention of PS3 compatibility?

If you just want to store music and films etc I guess performance is not such a problem though.

...aaaand you would be the first guy to mention PS3s :?

Im still a bit skeptical about hitachi drives

the price is good not sure about the drive

I just realized that if you follow the link of the samsung drive it's still £63....

Maxtor 1.5tb external hard drive is only £99.99 now at Ebuyer. Just thought it may interest people looking for hard drives as we cant post it as a deal.

This is cheaper at eBuyer of course (£59.99)
but we can't link to it on here

except when i add it to my basket on ebuyer it comes up as £64.99!

Going to get 5x1TB drives for a server at some point, getting tempted but not low enough yet.

Disagree totally, I have one also. If you look at ]TomsHardware the Hitachi drive is on a par with the Samsung F1, and in quite a few tests actually thrashes the Samsung.

Its also very quiet IMHO, though if you set the Dell BIOS I have to drive performance rather than the default, then it does get quite noisy, but then again so do the other three drives I have in the machine.

Out of interest - why can we not post items for ebuyer anymore?

probably because of reduced "incentives" to the mods :whistling:

I bought 2 of these recently from Ebuyer. Have 1 in my media centre & 1 as back up storage. Have had no issues. They seem a little slower than my desktop but in fairness that is set up in Raid. Did my research before buying & Hitachi drives seem to be building a very good rep. Like previous posters mentioned, these on paper compete with the Samsung F1. In fact from looking around there seemed to be a fair few people who had issues with Samsung's & Seagate's and ended up going for one of these instead. Near enough all reports were good. They are some of the quietest drives I have ever heard.

Due to self promos.

You need to choose the Super Saver FREE delivery option at checkout

lol @ people saying these are slow. These are even a tad quicker than Sammy F1 drives due to the slightly denser platters (375GB vs 320GB). I have 2 750GB 7k1000.b drives in RAID 0 and get awesome performance....

tell me this is bad
