Will never buy Hitachi again after I lost 160 GB to a failed drive.

Fair enough - I'm the same with Samsung.

Irrespective, all hard drives have their praisers and slaters.

:O without del

Anyone know if these are good for Sky + HD Box upgrade when used with Copy +?

Not voted, but was inclined to vote cold as OP didn't state what the postage cost was which was a bit lazy!!

the eco drives tend to be quite a bit slower and really not worth it for the miniscule amount of energy they save. these are only really good for something like putting in a sky box where speed isn't crucial and the lower operating temp would help extend it's life

They do run very cool. I have one of these and it runs cooler than the Hitachi 1TB that gets posted about 4 times a week on HUKD and that's with a fan on the Hitachi and no fan on the Samsung. With acoustic management turned on the Hitachi is slightly quieter and the transfer rates are about 10% higher. The seek time is obviously also better with the faster spindle speed.

As you cant "counter collect " any "super specials" from Aria, you have to add delivery...

thus making it £55.09

The fact that they do that shows that they make money on the postage maybe!

How is that spam?

its an ok price for the size, but I'm totally turned off by the 5400 speed.

and incidently , I've had WD , samsung, Seagate, and even a Raptor fail on me
like anything else mechanical, it happens regardless of make.

I did say in the title that it was plus delivery and I was hoping that someone out there would maybe have a code for discount or free delivery. Does it really inconvenience people so much because they have to click twice to find this out for themselves?

Even though the delivery is £7.95 this is still only £3 more than the Hitachi drive deal which is being voted hot and as someone has stated that they don;t like Hitachi due to previous experience with drive failure.

Sometimes I depair at cold voters

But why not put the delivery cost? Its misleading to say £45 "+ del" - especially when it is a company that is known to charge an extortionate amount for delivery.

Despair at cold voters all you want, but there is a cheaper 1TB drive elsewhere, so entitled to vote cold!

There is no 'maybe' about it. Aria's modus operandi is to highlight its deals with an artificially low headline price and then saddle it with high P&P. The fact that these web orders are limited to one item per order proves that the postage is not incidental.

I tend to skim over Aria deals for that reason.

I skim over Aria deals because of their appalling customer service more than anything! Wouldn't touch them with a sh!77y stick!
