OK, I know it's not exactly a cheap hard drive, but seems to be a pretty good price to me. Given the amazing performance stats I'm hearing about SSD, thinking this may well be worth a punt.

*****EDIT*****

Buy from Amazon and be eligible for £50 cash back on this model from Samsung meaning price £309.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Credit dbhoy

The Samsung SSD840 EVO is a high performance SSD designed for power users. Capable of delivering up to 98,000 IOPS Random Read Speed and 540MB/s Sequential Read speed, it is an SSD of unrivaled high performance. Its 98K IOPS powers performance that is up to 10X faster than a regular HDD. And, Samsung's TurboWrite technology delivers dramatically faster sequential write performance. At only 7 millimeters thick and weighing just 2 ounces, the 840 EVO Series SSD features a sleek, lightweight design. The stunning brushed aluminum design emphasizes luxury and refinement, but is durable enough to protect your data from loss due to shock, dust and corrosion. Don't forget your cashback (if Aria are a qualifying retailer)
Unfortunately Aria aren't a qualifying retailer - samsung.com/uk/…pdf

I wonder if any of the following would price match;

PC World, Currys, Amazon, Scan.com, Overclockers.co.uk, Dabs.com or Ebuyer.
com in the UK or ROI (each a “Participating Retailer”)

In fact, just checked, Amazon are offering at the same price.. BUY IT FROM AMAZON!

Thanks dbhoy
...Or wait a week or two as this drive is available widespread in germany for £320-£330...We're always slow to catch up and it will be dropping again at least another £20 in coming week or two.

No this is not a "it's never the right time to buy" post, this is an obvious sizable discount coming in the short term.
robo, aren't we getting it cheaper than Germany already, with the cashback deal?

The numbers in the OP seem to be smaller than the one's in your post (_;)

This is indeed a repost though, not sure why the other one expired. The cashback deals been on for a while now.

The £320 it's available for in germany is widespread price, as in it's not a reduced offer price. That has no cashback.
Since this cashback is running for approximately another 4 weeks in the UK and it only covers a select few retailers, and amazon likes to price match.

I come to conclusion that this drive will be offered by Amazon for £330-£335 or so within 2 weeks, of course you can deduct £50 cashback from that making it under £300.

(Said a similar thing about it being reduced substantially within 2 weeks last time this happened, where it was available for a fair bit lower in europe, and it was promptly reduced from £390 to £360)

I did a search but couldn't find anything. Perhaps because it's expired.

Just tried to order one from Amazon UK but it is sold via PineApple UK and fulfilled by Amazon so not sure whether the Cash Back will apply, unless someone can advise otherwise.

Might be worth waiting until Amazon have them back in stock.

Thanks

Go into more buying options it takes you to amazon.co.uk/gp/…new and the second one down is Amazon themselves, the one you looked at is a tenner more.
Thanks very much for pointing that out.

Will order one now.

Voted HOT.
Amazon don't have any in stock at the moment as it says (Usually dispatched within 1 - 2 months.). You need a serial off the product to claim cashback as well so I'd put off ordering one now.

Think you can claim the cashback up to 40 days after purchase, and Amazon tends to post the item within a couple of weeks even if it says 1-2 months. Worst case you order one and cancel it if the 40 days are almost up and they havent dispatched it.
