I grabbed this when it was on offer last week. Great little hard drive, replaced my 5 year old Western Digital USB 2.0 500gb MyBook.

One thing worth mentioning is the included cable is very short, so if you're planning on just leaving it on your desk plugged into a desktop like myself then you'll want to buy a USB 3.0 extension lead for a few quid.

Just out of interest, are Verbatim any good? Never used them, always had Toshiba, Seagate, Western Digital and Buffalo.

What drive is inside ?

Was looking for a 1TB drive under £40 and this obviously fits the bill. Heat and ordered :-)

A review I found online reported it contains a Toshiba MK1059GSM drive. I don't feel comfy pulling mine apart to check that myself.

Boo... Oh well, still voted hot, even if I'm not keen on eBuyer's refund policies...

I've got the 500GB USB2 version of this portable. Great drive. Nice post Buzz!

Verb. are renowned for quality and reliability so I'd be very surprised if they would choose to populate this external with a cheap nasty 2.5" drive.
When I took my 1TB Verbatim Store n Go apart it had the rather fabulous and highly rated Toshiba MQ01ABD100

But

The chew i am having with Ebuyer over a 32gb usb drive that is still stuck in Yodels processing is absolutely ridiculous , never buying from them again.

I have that Miliary grade one. I prefer it just simply for the fact that if I ever was to drop it, it would be protected more than the one shown in this deal. The read/write speeds are also very good with USB3.0.

Agree about ebuyer returns. For such a big company I don't understand their "market stall" customer service.

I got one of these last week and it was DOA. Ebuyer agreed to pick it up with Yodel (who turned up at 7pm and if you miss them Ebuyer charge you £10 to arrange another one, or you send back at your own cost) and by the next day (today) it was with them being tested. Should hear back in the next few days.

Ended up getting a Toshiba one from Tesco Direct for £40.00 with discount code and in store pick up.

These are sh1t !! Got one from asda for £20 and after 3 days it packed in !!! Don't touch at all if you havnt files backed up somewhere else...

Your 1 failure is hardly Representative!!
Plus ALL data should be backed up elsewhere irrespective of hard drive used (even mirrored RAID)

If they are still using the Tosh. drive inside that I got then these are top quality 2.5" hard drives that have won multiple awards and have a 600,000h MTBF (68+ YEARS!!!

Missed out on the other 1tb drive that was posted here a few days ago from ebuyer. Cheers for this.

Fantastic drives imo!

This works with XONE yea?

Wouldn't buy from ebuyer again. I had a HD failure and they payed out for a part of the original price only. Said I'd had 6 months use out of it so the couldn't pay full price. It was a Crucial M4 btw.

How long ago did you buy yours? I've seen people going back to 2011 saying they have Samsung drives, some review saying Seagate etc. Seems they change drive every few years.

This drive is designed to be more portable than a desktop drive. The desktop drives that are a more permanent solution are usually faster drives in a 3.5" drive size that come with longer cables. This drive comes with as shorter cable because most people will be using it next to a laptop.

Just taken delivery on one of these from Ebuyer and CrystalDiskInfo reports the hard drive is a Samsung/Seagate Spinpoint M8 ST1000LM024:

I think like most OEM manufacturers Verbatim will simply use whatever is available at the time or more precisely who is offering the best deal for them ...

thanks for the post bought 2 heat added

would this work with ps3/4?

Don't need one however given my experience with Verbatims gear through the years I'd have no hesitation in buying one. At £40 I think this sets the benchmark for portables.

Have some heat!

Do I really need this?

will this work wiv iphone?
