Read some reviews, google some youtube videos before you do...if you are after a novelty toy cabinet fine...otherwise your £300 would be way better spent towards decent hardware for a proper cabinet.
They have one in Nottingham by the way if that's any use to anyone. Was surprised to see how small it packed

Thanks
I've seen you can buy the wood frame for 100 on ebay. Wonder if you can make one from a pi. Going for a google.
I bought one a few weeks back for a Retropie conversion for my son. They're not worth £300 (some have been going for less than $100 in Walmart USA) but it was a great project nonetheless and he learned a great deal from it. Next project is proper full size cabinet!

Yes you can. Lots of guides around. Also checkout Arcade Punks.
This will need a deck protector as the decals rub off extremely easily. Unless the protector is packed with the cabinet ( as the newly issued cabinets are ) getting one is a big problem.

I built one last year for work as part of our efforts to raise money for charity was a lot easier than expected and was quite fun.
Looking at certain auction places. A fruit machine can be as cheap as £50-100. I always considered it maybe possible to mount a lcd display in a fruit machine cabinet. Use an arcade pad mounted on the cabinet and retro pie inside. My dream dates back to original xbox with duox mod chip which I have stacked up in the loft. I moved onto j-tag and coolrunner xbox 360 and now look at the size of the pie zero which does the same lol

Seems to be slightly cheaper than elsewhere so won’t vote cold (given the purpose of HUKD), but was a bit disappointed by the height of the cabinet when looking on other sites.
I know the build quality isn't superb, and I know you could probably build it for less, but I still want this...shame its all the way in Manchester...

Yes, they're only 4ft tall so for an adult you'd need to sit at a stool. In the US, they sell risers which lift the cabinet about a foot up, but I understand the UK isn't getting these until later this year.

I wonder if those controller holders you see in shops that let you hold the controllers could be used in place of standard sticks? I realise it's not an authentic cabinet but if your doing it for kids they may be more open to the pads as they've probably never played a real cabinet before.
And various other options in my search
My retropie has a mayflash adapter and 2 bluetooth pc controllers but not ideal for some emulation due to pad configuration
How many times can i play the arcades version instead of buying this?

Assuming I go twice a month and it costs £2a game
around £200 would have been the fair price for the quality of the product, £300 or more for what you're getting is just too high, hence why many places in the US are selling for $249 or under.

companies need to start realising when you ask for high prices for your product e.g. Sony with the PS Classic £90, and Arcade1Up with these arcade cabs £349-399, you need the quality to back it up! especially now with online reviews/feedback/youtube videos, often times people/collectors are willing to pay a high(or higher than normal) price for these items/collectibles, but not high/higher price for mediocre items, value for money is very important nowadays.

pandoras box arcade <------- search ebay / amazon / chinese exporters

said it before on a similair thread, these are far better value for money than these cheap 1 up machines.
Isnt £299 the RRP for them?
Waiting on a getting one for half that

Not as far as I can tell, more like £399+.

Debenhams are £400, Argos £450 reduced to £349. Sports Direct are selling a Space Invaders for £325.

£150 if they fix all the problems I'd say is a fair price. I imagine there are a couple of thousand units in distribution, no idea how many have sold so far but I expect some heavy discounts as we move further into the year.

The US had heavy discounts late last year $199 and below, was hoping we would have some here by now eg £250 or under, seeing series 2 is coming out soon, yet series 1 prices is still stubbornly high...
Does this come with chip shop grease or is that extra?
