I had the previous verison of this, the 'blink 182'. It was really good, it captured everything including all the small things.

What's your experience been like with regard to battery life?

I've had them set up to work quite intensively, so quite high sensitivity, best quality video, high level of IR illumination, long recording period, short interval between end and beginning of another recording period. And my wife likes to check on the plants quite often from the phone, and they're on very often, always at night and whenever we're at work. The camera at our front door has just asked for a change of batteries. So that's given us three months rather than the touted two years. The other two are still going okay for now but they don't give you a percentage, seems they're either okay or they're not. Don't mind this wide gap so much, like I said I am using them very intensively so shouldn't expect great battery life and the pros outweighs this one con. They're well worth the money, especially as there seems to be loads of free cloud space for video storage and they're really easy to use without standing out a mile.

Bought three camera system on Prime Day when they dropped the price by the same amount as they are now. Need a fourth camera but will wait until Black Friday to see if they possibly reduce them even lower.

Having said all that, just checked and the single camera price is now lower than it was on Prime Day, so buying my additional camera now.
I've had a set of 3 of the original Blink cameras for over 18 months now set at 1080 and they are still on their first set of batteries. 😁

We have them on at night for at least 6 hours and then also in the day for at least 6 hours.

Mine have been going for 4 months now and I use them regularly. Will depend which batteries you put in. You could put Duracell Ultra batteries in for very long life
I need at least one more camera so this is tempting but probably ripe for an Amazon deal on Black Friday

These new ones have a mic which I'd really like for the front and back door (somewhat pointless elsewhere)

Battery on these is great. I've had to change mine recently as I've had them on 24/7 with building work going on, and they still lasted 6months
I'm going to ask a really stupid question, motion sensors in general (indoors) - if I'm home I don't want it to turn on everytime I enter my living room, do they? Or can timers be set? Living room, as that's the room burgles will definitely take a peek in, but it's also the room I'm mostly moving about in. Thanks in advance...
These really interest me , would need the 3 camera system.
Quick questions
Do these just hook upto the home wifi ?
Do these have a base unit they link too or do they just hook upto the app ?
And finally is there a cloud monthly charge to use the cloud ?
Cheers guys

They link in with your WiFi and Cloud Storage is free. The Base Unit is plugged into your WiFi. Any motion detected - a clip gets sent to your phone and you can set how long you want to store the clips for on your phone, via the App. I've had it for a year or so now and love it.
Fab, needed this - Thanks!

Cheers going to give it a go .
How long does it record the clip for ?
If a person is moving around the front door , will it keep recording , or just a clip . And can you chat to them ?
I've had them for 3 months now and they are okay. Zone system and sensitivity is poor and doesn't work. Blink support are unable to fix unless they turn it off, which isn't a solution. Easy set up, but not the best quality. 3/5 and okay for basic CCTV for price.
Do they have a siren integrated? Or you only receive notification via the phone? Basically, if somebody gets in, will this system make any noises so the person knows he/she is watched? Thanks!

You can set for how long you want a clip to record for (via the App on your phone), it will then record for that length of time. If movement continues, it will begin recording a 2nd clip. You can chat to the person.

You can disable the blue light so that people don't know they're being recorded.

I believe it doesn't have any siren integrated, just notifications.
Mine make a very noticeable click sound as the camera comes on so I always know when it’s recording me.

You can on an Echo show
Edited by: "amoulden" 17th Oct 2019
Just gone for the 3 camera system plus an additional one. I do hope it's worth it!
What’s the phone alerts like on these? Quite a few recent reviews are saying it’s terrible
I have these, find them fine, can watch them on the echo show as well.. app is really easy to use and had them set up in minutes...obviously not as good as the more expensive cctv systems but they certainly do the job. The no wires thing is a huge bonus

How much storage is that though

Not sure on the amount of space as I delete clips every 1 / 2 days. but doesn't really matter as it works like a dash cam - just deletes old clips and keeps on recording when full

I recall it being £79 on Prime Day. Today it's £69.
These really are fantastic .Bought one to keep an eye on river level where I live .Only gripe I have is when it rains sometimes a drop of rain will stick on the screen and cause it to be blurry and there's nothing I can do untill I get home.In all worth every penny and the free storage is more then enough.

They need to be able to detect motion across the frame. Mounting higher up can often help with this.

This or something like the ring wired stick up cam?

This or something like the ring wired stick up cam?

Blink is a budget brand and its performance reflects that IMO and its future is far from certain..check youtube for footage and i would be surprised if anyone bought these after as night vision is horrendous and has some serious audio failings carried over from version one. In fact Blink (amazon ) stopped selling these for a while with some of the issues reported..Ring is not perfect either but the fact it is wired will help a lot but there is a new Ring stick up version out next week so perhaps wait for a review then?
