Wander off to Ireland or Britain for just a £2 coin!

But you only have a few hours to book, so get your skates on this St. Patrick’s.

What’s the deal?
  • Grab a £2 foot fare
  • Holyhead - Dublin and Fishguard - Rosslare routes
  • Book by 18 March
  • Travel by 15 December

I am looking at going on the HolyHead to Dublin route. Firstly you can get a train easily to Holyhead (or there is a car park nearby). Then when in Dublin I believe there is a bus you can catch to get you into the city centre.

It's a great price.

Loads to see and do in Dublin. You'll feel like you're a millionaire while you're there too.

Booked a couple of nights in August, looked at hotels and I think I'll have to reconsider! Hotel prices are extortionate!! Low end hotels/hostels are £100/£150 a night!!

Anyone have any advice on where to find value for money Dublin hotels?

The hotel prices seem to get twice as expensive each year.

Sack that it's full of Irish.
I'm trying to book a day trip but get the outgoing booking but can't sort out same day return???
Just found a site called Homestay.com for Dublin and surrounding areas, seems quite reasonable.
blah i've been looking for a cheap non air route from England to Ireland, for me its normally £20 train to southampton and £90 or so plane to belfast ... but for a train from portsmouth to holyhead it will cost £132.50 with 5 changes and will take 8 hours then £20 for a 2hr train from dublin to belfast ... so on this £2 foot fare it would cost £154.50 1 way per person and take over 14 hours!

You can buy an all in 1 Sail and Rail ticket normally less than £50 all in. Takes ages but for those up north its best to go via Cairnryan and for those in Midlands and south beat to go via Holyhead. Trainline sells them and the TOC's themselves.

ideally i'm looking to travel to northern ireland but i'm near portsmouth, portsmouth harbour to Cairnryan is £200 train ticket alone 20 hour travel and 5 changes lol the only other route i can see is the holyhead route through wales, which would be around £160 PP and 14 hours of travel, the plane would be the easiest option and cheapest and quickest however i'd be with someone who can't fly.
Try looking at going

Thank you.
£5 Belfast to Liverpool each way another deal which is maybe handier for many. My Missus just booked for July, her Dad lives in Liverpool.

I would check to see if the Liverpool Dublin ferry has this offer.

Get a sail rail to Dublin, then get the train from Dublin to Belfast.

The Sail Rail fare from Portsmouth to Dublin is £47.60 one way, then take the shuttle bus (free???) from Dublin Port to Dublin Connolly Station to get a train to Belfast at €18.

Example Fare

Have a look at seat61.com/Nor…htm Dublin

You can get a one-way ticket from Portsmouth to Belfast, via Holyhead/Dublin, from £56.90 one way (or £62.10 if you buy ticket on day of travel).....

You can go via Cairnryan too, all the fares and details are on the Seat 61 website.

Portsmouth Belfast is £55. Same 5 changes and only 14 hours if you get the 7.50 am one.
I have done the Belfast to Portsmouth route.

We went last year. Rented an apartment for £300 for a weekend which was decent for 4 people for 2 nights. Hotels there are a fortune.
Yup - cheapest I could find was a 1 bed AirBnB flat on Parnell Street for £250 for 2 nights. (I ended up cancelling and losing £100 deposit as my best friend had moved to Lucan, just west of Dublin, so could stay for free). It's a crazy central-London style pricing hell in Dublin.

You can but last time i lived in northern ireland beside the donegal border the duty free cigs worked out more expensive than the uk lol

looks quite tempting although still 10 hours on a train ... i wish i could just the person on a test flight nearby but all the flights i can find from southampton airport within the UK have an expensive train route back if the person doesn't feel comfortable traveling by plane, and they feel too clostraphobic on buses
I wish they would do France again
