These idiots' website says it's in stock, they even send you a text that's ready for collection, then when you appear to collect them, they say they don't know anything about this order. Bunch of idiots, really.
Strangely I bought and fitted this yesterday and didn't even notice it was not switched till I read this post and turned round to look at it!

Standby for folk moaning about the unswitched nature of your sockets ... *

Apparently, not permissable in homes, or some other hairy %a||$ like that.

I think it's a great deal, especially with the 4 USB ports.

* And folk saying posted already

Technically, no it wasn't.

It's was entered along with like a dozen others in further details, yes, but very worthy of a full mention here, imho.

And ... Rules state it's fine reposting things after 28 days. Count the days.

I ended up going to my local store and rummaging around for these, found 2 of these 4 port ones and 3 of the 2 port switched ones for £3.60. Booking online is useless, they show stock but then you either get a text saying it’s a mistake and they’ll call to discuss (but don’t) or you go there and claim the order never existed. Bargain, *if* you can find them, and given it’s been a month or so now, looks unlikely.

Have had this before also.
Now I always check by calling in advance of collection, even after all the 'confirmation' via text etc.

If it’s local it’s best to go there if you can. If you call ahead for a bargain, they’ll just squirrel it away for themselves if they like what you’ve found. When I went there this helpful member of staff also produced a surge-protected individually switched 4 way gang adapter with 4 USB ports for me - £20 down to £5 so well worthwhile trip!

Fair point. The clearance 9-drawer tool chest I bought was reserved at £65, but upon collection there was a further reduction - making it £45.
I guess experiences as usual can vary hugely depending on where you are, but yes there have certainly been some real bargains in HB recently
Waste of time, 15 in stock, reserved, call to say can’t find them...
Plenty in stock in Clitheroe. Went for different ones but plenty of these still available. Most show at full price but scan between £3-£6.30 at the till depending on which ones you get. Ended up spending £120
Nice, but I like switches on my sockets.

in back of the boot of one of the staff probably, to be miraculously produced as the doors close to be scanned it last min and sold on ebay
Pointless as new phones have fast chargers which is way beyond 2.1A, not really future proof.
Maybe not fast but ok to leave your phone charging in the kitchen and collecting it in the morning on your way to work or such like. Bought one last week.

iPhones and androids still charge in 2 hours on 1amp

Fast charging is bad for the life of the battery.

Looking at 3 hours minimum for most phones, it's simple maths, capacity / charging current.

My S10+ is 4100mah, you ain't charging that in 2 hours on 1 amp.

Don't know where you've got the figure of 2 hours from. Phones with 2000mah would charge in 2 hours assuming 100% efficiency, but phones generally have way bigger batteries than that.

Pretty much sums up homebase. They're basically the worst.
46 in stock in Banbury
The MK ones are a much better investment in terms of quality and aesthetics. Available all year round at Screwfix.

A 3000mAh battery (which is pretty typical) would take 2 hours 15 on a 100% efficient 5V 1A. So yeah, about 3 hours with the losses. It'll also charge faster at the start than toward the end due to resistance.

5V 2.1A is fine for most things in my opinion.
Managed to get the last one in Gloucester, so thanks.

Fast charging is not always a good thing. Even if your device is fast charge compatible slower charging will extend the life and performance of the battery.

We had a few things on charge yesterday and I was actually a little bit surprised of how quick it was.
Unswitched, can't turn them off or on. Don't see why people would buy this. 🤫
