5 hours in the Dam .. nowhere near enough time IMO.

I did this last September. Left on the Thursday, missed the ferry back on the Friday, got flight home on the Sunday. Was the best weekend of my life! ..probably

Thats the exact reason I would not go on this, its tempting though but its just not enough time. Id smuggle back a oz or two though, gotta be done.

So almost 2 days on a Ferry and only 5 hours in Amsterdam. No thanks.

The 2 days on the ferry are at Ibiza type prices as well. Unless you live like a monk in your cabin and refuse to eat or drink.

I may be getting old, 32, but i'd sooner pay a few bob more and fly in relative comfort. Done and dusted in an hour.

Ouch, inside cabin, expensive on board for everything and sloooooow. I would suggest stopping in Amsterdam overnight at the very least otherwise you should look at it as 5 hours off a boat and nearly 2 days on it!.

Easy jet flight and a couple of nights in the Flying Pig hostel...........job done!

Always best booking a hotel for a night in Amsterdam with these Ferry trips. 5 hours is enough if you're a lightweight stoner or just want to do a bit of sightseeing. But if you want to cane it till night time or go clubbing, an extra night is highly recommended.

With regards to the Ferry trip. I've been on that boat over 20 times now and loved every second of it.
I'm 23, and I always go with lots of friends, so I can understand why maybe someone older that's going with their other half might not like it. It is expensive, it does take ages, it's not the quietest/most comfortable nights sleep you'll have, but if you're like me and just go to party then the latter two don't really matter.
Take you're own drink on the boat. I usually always take a litre of vodka to last me the trip there and back. I've even got on with a crate of stella before and nobody said anything. Also take some sandwiches on or something too and you can easily have a cheap trip.

The boat trip back is PERFECT for doing magic mushrooms, if you're into that. Honestly, it's the most fun ever. You're in the middle of the god-damn north sea so there's NOBODY that can put a downer on your trip, and there's always a room to retreat to if you don't feel good. The length of the trip allows plenty of time for a full trip and a full 6-8 hour sleep before arriving back in Newcastle.
I went in November and it was very very windy and choppy, the boat was all over the place, but not enough for it to actually be dangerous to go outside.. So at the height of our shroom trip we decided to walk all the way around the outside decks of the boat.... Hooooly cow. It was probably the most amazing/intense/exciting/terrifying thing I've ever experienced, I felt like I was on an episode of Deadliest Catch. I'd recommend anyone that considers themselves a thrillseeker to give it a try.

Haha! Anyway, yeah. The boat is extremely fun and worthwhile if you make it so.

"Mini Cruise" - NO, it's a ferry!

Mushrooms are now a class A drug in Holland. At least that's what I've heard.

8% Quidco cashback also.

Truffles are still legal.

Anyone know if there's anything stopping you booking two £47 cruises, missing the return leg of the first, and coming back on the return leg of the second? It looks like (in some instances) this might be cheaper than buying a return!
