How to book
Use The Crown Hotel's online booking system to book your 1-night or 2-night stay.

About the hotel
The hotel is in Boroughbridge, a town on the River Ure in North Yorkshire. Originally a private home, it became a coaching inn in the 1700s, and was one of the most important inns on the route from London to Edinburgh.

Today, it's a hotel with a bar, a restaurant, and a 12-metre swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, a steam room, and gym equipment—all leisure facilities are free for guests to use.

About the area
Allerton Castle, a Victorian Gothic stately home with guided tours on Wednesday afternoons, is around 10 minutes' drive from the property, while Fountains Abbey, a ruinous monastery, is around 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. There are lots of trails to explore in the surrounding deer park. National Trust property Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens is around 30 minutes' drive from the hotel—it's home to a large collection of 18th-century paintings on permanent loan from the National Portrait Gallery.

The spa town of Harrogate and York—with its mighty Gothic Minster, choice of museums, and Medieval city walls to explore—are both around 30 minutes' drive from the property. The hotel is also around 30 minutes' drive from the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the North York Moors National Park, and the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so walkers are spoiled for choice.

Getting there
The hotel has free secure on-site parking (subject to availability). Knaresborough railway station is around 15 minutes' drive away.

Not a bad deal it was £109 last year for two nights then £149 a few weeks ago must have not got enough people at the higher price point. Stayed last year the hotel is nice enough, rooms were been done up when I was there and it has a pool and sauna but you are in a village it's definitely not Harrogate. The curry house across the road from it is nice if it's still there too.

No need to be pedantic. It's all North of London, ain't it?

Not that bad a location with Knaresborough about 6 miles away and Harrogate 10. 40 mins to York on the 22 bus with £2 single fares.
Some nice walks like through Aldborough with its Roman site.
