I would avoid these Groupon deals as I've just booked one myself to Krakow next February, once you have paid for your Groupon voucher you then have to ring the travel agent to actually book it, I was then charged £45 per person extra for 'better flights',(4 of us going so total extra of £180) would have been cheaper for me to book it direct with Jet2+hotel as that is who they have booked the flights with. It is annoying as you have to pay for the groupon voucher then ring the agent and they then say they have only flights arriving at midnight, hotel of choice not available etc, would never book one again through Groupon, lesson learnt.

haha ok, I will do my best - but m sure there would be some good deals - Venice is a popular tourist destination after all
No Belfast or Dublin ✈ ? 😔
When in Rome .....
The flight times are generally horrific but you dont find this out until you have paid. The small print even states you may not get the number of nights booked due to the flight schedules

Eg departing at 6am from Rome

Good price but just bear in mind you may just have one full day there which is about 2 less than you really need to appreciate Rome

This is how these places make a profit. They don't make anything on bundling together budget flights with hotels and paying Groupon a commission they make money from selling upgrades after people are already committed in the form of betters flight times, extra baggage or hotels not miles away from the city centre.

Personally I think it's crazy to pay for a trip without knowing what the flight times are and what hotel you will actually be staying in.

It tells you which hotel you will get, no? If it's not available it says you will get similar rated hotel. So that's seems OK, but not guaranteed. Flight times are an issue. As someone suggested above, it does say you flight times may wary and you might spend your first and last day on the flight and not at the hotel.

I checked prices for March, for two people, and it's, £338 for 5 nights. Which seems a bargain.

“At a of choice hotels”. Featured hotels are subject to availability, which obviously you means won’t find out until you’ve paid and phone up.

Similar rated hotel yes but the only guarantee is that it will be somewhere in Rome.
We visited Rome in February for our wedding anniversary. An amazing place with so much history you have to see it. Some tips:

The airport is miles from the town. Public transport is not great. Taxis are a fixed fayre I think of 50 euros each way and its about a 40 minute transfer. You can use the train which is cheaper and then get a bus but it's not very convenient. Looking at the location of this hotel I'd be tempted just to get a taxi. We made the mistake of using Hoppa for a transfer and they left us stranded on the return journey with no refund, so beware.

At the airport you can buy a Roma pass I think its called that gives you unlimited bus travel and entrance to one or 2 attractions. Worth looking into, however we did find we were just hopping onto buses and nobody was checking tickets!

Eating out- be very very wary as some restaurants are extremely expensive. Avoid anywhere that has a person 'pulling you in' (sometimes they will pounce on you when looking at the menu) and avoid places that are within a view of a major attraction. We fell foul of this just once and ended up paying 9 euro for a beer. Use TripAdvisor to your advtange as there are usually some lovely places within 5 or 10 minutes walk of the major attractions down some of the backstreets. When eating lunch there are some fantastic little pizza outlets, we found one near the Vatican that charged for pizza by the gram and served Peroni red label in bottles.

Be prepared to be hassled absolutely everywhere you go. Whether it's by people trying to sell you tickets, kindly old men who turn out to be beggars, or roma pickpockets/ scammers. Keep your wits about you. BOOK ATTRACTIONS IN ADVANCE WHEREVER POSSIBLE! Although you might pay slightly more its much less hassle.

It's worth paying the fee to go onto the top level of the altar of the fatherland as the views are breathtaking. I think it's 8 euros each.
Good price if you do not mind a dirty city with roses, water, toys sellers trying to do everything to get your money.

Early May is a good time to go Venice. Very good chance of good weather, but the crazy summer crowds haven't arrived yet.

If you're prepared to spend more, keep an eye on BA Holidays for Flight + Hotel. They sometimes have very competitive prices on the Hilton Molino. Which is just across from San Marco and offers a free boat across every 30 mins.

We stayed there for a week for my wifes birthday and is now our favourite place to stay there. From memory it equated to £100pn incl direct flights with luggage from London (for shorter stays it would equate to more pn). You get a great view of the main island and San Marco. And can be there in 5 mins. But you can get away from the crowds as the Molino and Guideca are relatively quiet. Plus its a large hotel, so space for the kids to run around when you need some down time or weather is bad.

Rome is great for a short trip.

Do you get to choose between Rome FCO and CIA? Or is it down to the schedule from your starting airport?

The latter - depends on where you take off from and where the flight goes.

Completely agree with this - They tried to upsell us at every possible opportunity and when we finally got to the point of them 'pre-confirming' the deal mentioned here, they called us back and asked for more money.

We've had to get a refund after ~3 hours of faffing on the phone.
