Useful thanks.

Is this place legit ? Raybans seem far cheaper than most places.

Yes, they've been going for 10 years and there's plenty of other GD deals posted on here. I got a pair of bench glasses from them last year for under £20

mmm....

They are okay for pple with low prescriptions, anyone wanting to have lenses thinned should avoid internet glasses companies. I spent almost £200 with these lot for their thinnest lenses possible, they still sent me jam jars!

I've been needing some new glasses as mine have become a little scratched, more-so than my previous ones without the "scratch resistant coating"...

Any tips on fitting, should I use a hair dryer to bend plastic?

Been wanting some of those trendy 'round/retro glasses' for quite some time but they're quite expensive in most places. Might investigate here! Thanks OP.

Best to buy a pair that fit.

I have been using Glasses Direct for about 6 years or so and I find them great. I have 7 pairs of glasses with my current prescription in them. I have a few pairs to just switch about plus I have a pair of transitions. I always wait for the offers and now wouldn't buy from the high street. You can also get I think up to 4 pairs sent to try at home.8)

Where are the ray bans exactly ? Not listed in brands !

What exactly are free dark tints? I just want regular clear lenses.

Also lenses seem to be 10 pound per glasses so price is more than 27.50?

The price quoted is for frames only. They have three lens packages. I have about ten pairs of glasses, all styles, colours and lens types from them. If you are worried about fit you can pay a tenner to your local optician for them to 'fit them to you! I have never had to bother. I am wearing a pair right now.

Living social currently have a £19 quid voucher for £55 to spend on 2 frames, with two £10 lens packs this would give you two pairs inc sunglasses for £39 all in.

They keep you informed by email on the progress of your specs and are very quick.

Put in the comments box and ask them to ring you.

How do you all work out you PD (pupil distance) if the opticians withhold this information?

I had am eye test at specsavers recently and when I went to collect my glasses I asked if they could tell me what my PD was since they measured it when I chose my glasses. I was told "we can't give this information out as I wouldn't like to think what would happen if it was incorrect".

so they are telling me I now have a pair of prescription glasses from specsavers and the PD could be incorrect.

just ordered my 7 day free trial box, good website!

If you want to measure your PD you can try this service.

bonlook.com/pd-…ent

but this is something to take into account.

From this link: forums.moneysavingexpert.com/sho…765

I'm not implying people are cheapskates, it's just he makes some valid points.

"A[ UK registered optometrist is not obliged to give you your PD unles he/she wants to.
It is traditionally the responsability of the person who is dispensing the glasses to measure the PD.
It is a skilled measurement which if measured incorrectly, the optometrist will be liable for negligent. As a professional person (one that is registered with the General Optical Council UK), the optometrist has certain rules and regulations to abide by.
As it is a professional service, the optometrist is well within their rights to charge for this. Have you noticed that all these sites that make out that your PD is a trivial matter, are NOT allowed to dispense under 16's or those that are are registered partially sighted or blind? That is because it is an important measurement. If you have a particularly strong prescription and your pd is measured incorrectly, you will most likely get headaches, eyestrain and a feeling of being crosseyed.
As mentioned before, if an optometrist measures a pd wrong and you crash your car due to this, then he/she will be liable for negligence. If your uncle measured your pd wrong he wont be. SO THAT IS THE REASON WHY OPTOMETRISTS DO NOT MEASURE THE PD AS PART OF THE PRESCRIPTION. THE PD IS MEASURED BY THE PERSON DISPENSING THE GLASSES and that is why professional optometrists charge more for the glasses. YOU ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE. You can go back and have your glasses adjusted etc etc. Who wiull adjust your glasses over the internet??? that is why internet glasses are cheaper. THERE IS NO AFTER CARE.

ONE MORE THING....WILL YOU GO TO A TAILOR OR DRESS MAKER AND ASK THEM TO MEASURE YOU UP FOR A SUIT OR A DRESS, GIVE YOU THE MEASUREMENTS SO YOU CAN ORDER THE SUIT OR DRESS OVER THE INTERNET FOR FREE???? OF COURSE NOT, THE TAILOR OR DRESS MAKER WILL CHARGE YOU!

THE SAME APPLIES FOR AN OPTOMETRIST. GIVING YOU A PRESCRIPTION IS ONE THING, BUTTHEY DONT HAVE TO GIVE YOU THE PD MEASUREMENT (which is not part of the eye test..... but part of the dispense) THEN THEY CAN CHARGE YOU FOR IT!

PEOPLE WILL GET THEIR NAILS DONE FOR £50 BUT ARE SO SHOCKED TO PAY £20 FOR AN EYE TEST ONCE EVERY 2 YEARS (WHICH CAN PICK UP ALL KINDS OF MEDICAL PROBLEMS... BRAIN TUMOURS, BLOOD PRESSURE, DIABETES.......) I FIND IT RIDICULOUS.

ITS YOUR EYES!!!!!!!!!!! THERE'S A TIME AND A PLACE TO BE CHEAPSKATES!!!!!!!"

I don't think anything horrific will happen if you get your PD slightly wrong.
Its about time the high street opticians got a wake up call selling £100-£200 glasses that cost a few pounds to make.
