2 Pairs of prescription glasses for £25 @ Glasses Direct

Found 5th Mar 2014
This deal is all about using three different Glasses Direct* promotions together.

1. 2for1 on prescription glasses over £55. All pairs priced from £55 are currently on a 2for1 offer (you get the cheapest free). Once you pick your lenses, you’ll see some more expensive lens packages. To avoid the extra costs, click on 'continue with basic lenses', above the '40% off' banner near the top of the page.

2. Free dark UV tint for one or both your specs. Select the dark tint in brown, green or grey (it comes up as £0).

3. Code gets £30 off. After adding the second free pair to your basket, and sorting out your free tints or lenses, enter MSE25SUN at the checkout by 11.59pm on Mon 10 Mar to get an extra £30 off ANY glasses/specs from £55.

These offers can be combined to get two pairs of prescription specs for £25, plus free delivery on single vision lenses only (usually £3.95) and free tint (usually £10). What's more, the second pair doesn't have to be the same prescription as the first, so you could get one for yourself and one for someone else, or one pair of regular specs and one pair of prescription sunnies.

There are 70+ frames* costing bang on £55, so pick them if you want to get the most value out of your code.

For bifocal lenses you'll have to pay an extra £30, for varifocal it's £70. Very strong prescriptions are excluded, such as when the combined SPH and CYL is greater than +/-8.00, when the CYL is over +/-4.00, if there is more than 5.00D difference between each eye or if the prism correction is over 4.00 in any direction.

Good price but I read somewhere that you should be careful ordering varifocals online as more measurements are required than for single vision lenses and these are not always included on the prescription the optician gives you.

"To avoid the extra costs, click on 'continue with basic lenses"

The basic lenses have no anti-reflective coating (or UV protection), and will be heavy and thick. The "silver" lenses option comes with anti-reflective coating, for just £2 more, but they will still have thick and heavy lenses.

Ordered. Thanks OP - fantastic deal.

Thanks wife is chuffed

Great deal

went to optician today, they are getting my specs for me for next week (with anti reflective lenses) but didn't give me a prescription so unsure how I would order from a website without one?

will try this out soon !

oh no why didn't I think of that .........

I merely said that optician did an eye test and didn't give me copy of the prescription.

You also asked about how you could order glasses online - either show some appreciation or don't ask questions at all.

For Varifocals, and indeed bifocals & hi-prescription single vision, measurements need to be taken that are unique to each frame. If they're wrong, you'll be looking through the incorrect portion of the lens.

It was merely a question, no need to solicit praise, no one asked you to answer, don't pick on members it's not clever.

Opticians often don't like to give them out as they know that when you have it you can go elsewhere and get your specs - so they might lose business. But by law you are entitled to a copy and sometimes they are quite handy to have, even if you just want to see how your presription has changed since your last test.

I work in an opticians and have done for 6years. Great deal for basic glasses for single vision distance of reading. highly against bifocals and varifocals as the measurements need to be taken in person and all frames are different. Would be a hassle sorting it out if theyre wrong through email. you get what you pay for, eyes are precious.

Great deal! Bought my first online prescription glasses from them last month, very happy with them! Sunglasses this time! Two pairs for £25, awesome!

As far as I know, legally they only have to give one measurement. Things like pupillary distance can, and probably will, be left off.

thanks OP

You can get a pair of glasses for about £11-12 delivered in a few online sites. Unless you need 2 pairs I wouldn't bother.

I've bought from glasses direct for many years, always really happy with what I got and the discounts are brilliant.

my boyfriend is going to try them, anyone used the try the glasses on for free postal service? it seems all free but I'm sure there's a catch.

thanks very much!
ordered myself a spare pair of glasses and sunglasses as my kids always hide or break mine within a few months!
always good to have spares

I've tried it twice, no catch at all - just make sure you send it back on time (even then I think they're quite lenient with this if you give fair warning) and get proof of postage at the post office

Ordered last week and received it yesterday.
got the gold package for the lens so paid a little bit more.
I was surprised to see that they gave me 4 glasses when I only ordered 2!
2 of each so very happy with that as i wouldn't have to worry if one breaks or gets scratched.
As far as quality goes, it's decent. Would definitely go with them again next time

boyfriend got the trial pack and was very pleased how quickly it arrived. bought glasses there and then!

also, if you've ordered before and you use the refer a friend option both you and the friend are given a £20 glasses direct voucher.

probably not able to be used with any other offer tho.
