Posting this as I'm here now and it's great, can't think of a better way to spend 500 quid to be honest. Works out £36 per person per night.

Resort is called Labranda Club Makadi. It's 4 star, and gets 4.5 out of 5 on tripadvisor. Book through loveholidays.com

From November through to April this holiday costs over £8k. I'm sure that would drop but gives an idea on how good this deal is.

It's about 37 degrees, pool is great (and warm), food is delicious and varied, and the coral reef right on the beech is amazing. We've seen turtles, rays, and tons of other fish. There is a pretty good gym here, table tennis, pool, and the animation team are alway putting on yoga classes and darts tournaments etc.

Flight is from Gatwick, but it seems to be quite cheap from other airports too, and not much more going in to June.

Some people may feel that Egypt isn't safe... and that's fine but I disagree. A lot less has happened here recently than other places that brits still visit regularly.

Also, excursions are very cheap. We've been to the pyramids and Egyptian museum for £60 each. Snorkelling boat trip for £20 each, and private dolphin trip (in the wild) for £55 each.

If you've never experienced a coral reef you probably should soon. This turtle is critically endangered, and we're killing reefs pretty quickly through global warming...

Wow, this thread is so full of cowards. Enjoy staying inside in your sheltered life in the UK... There have been more terrorist incidents in Europe the last few years than Egypt, and most of it is super safe. You're way more likely to be in a car accident in the UK than you are to be in an attack in Egypt haha.

On the plus side, seeing as all the scared people are staying put in the UK, you can go and have a relatively tourist free holiday right now! Half the sites were empty half the day when I went a couple of years ago. Much better.
2 weeks not worth my life sorry. Its cheap for a reason.
I've been to Egypt and survived, I must be very lucky as I didn't even feel threatened at any point. In contrast I've heard people being killed in London, very dangerous country is London, stick to Tenerife everyone!

Same. We haven't been since Sharm (Nabq Bay) many years ago. Have to say I think I prefer it here, the reef is incredible.
Thankfully the sharks only tend to eat Germans
It'll be the last week of Ramadhan so just check if this will affect tourist trade etc
Lived in Nabq for a year - beautiful place and amazing people. Wouldn't touch Love Holidays with a barge pole though! x

Out of interest why do you say that? I've used them a few times with no issues?

It's Ramadan here now and it's fine. I think it just means it's not quite as busy as I guess less people want to pay for all inclusive of they can't take full advantage

They use the same booking methods as lowcostholidays who went bust. Taking money and holding it without actually booking it.
A beautiful country
Do they provide transfer from airport to resort ?

They do for an extra charge, quite expensive. I always use a company called Mozio. Private taxi straight to your hotel with no extra stops. It cost me about £18 quid return for both of us
up to £ 956 now....

Probably due to advertisment here and traffic
£404pp for 7 nights as we would get bored for 14nights and have a day job!

It's the week or two after Ramadan you need to worry about!

I'm not saying I'm perfect. Even David Attenborough uses planes mate

Maybe a lot less than Syria or Turkey, but I still wouldn't want to go there

Turkeys aren't that dangerous.

A bit dry, can get stuck in your throat, maybe?

That's fair enough. But it was thinking places like the UK, France, New Zealand, America. Terrible things happen in all of these places but we generally seem happy to still go there... but not Egypt. But we all obviously want to feel safe to enjoy a holiday so I take your point

Agree. One thing that is a bit shocking is the amount of plastic cups and bottles they are dishing out here. We always take our own cups but this place... and most other resorts, must get through tons of single use plastic.
Well at least you can be blown up enjoying the scenery... it amazes me how many people chance their lives in these godforsaken places... I suppose there are a fair few Darwin awards to be won here...

Godforsaken seems a bit harsh. What are you basing that view on? Do the more recent attacks in Europe put you off visiting those places?
Nope!
Bullet proof vest included?

Yep, I seriously wouldn’t go there, Turkey or Tunisia if you paid me!!

Right right... There was a bombing in London & Manchester, I guess those 2 places are also off the list?
Maximilian_III15/05/2019 18:30

Is it much more dangerous than Turkey?

Deary me. The papers really have got some people shaken up. Just remember to lock your door at night or the boogie man will get you. Trust me, Paul Dacre told me so.
Yes people in general are so frightened of everything , i dont get it i have been to Turkey 4 times in the last 6 years and folks are like " oh my why do you go to Turkey , is it not frightening " ? no not really love , the Syrian border is over a 1000km away so im not really near any danger , yet people flock to the most bombed city in Europe of late ; Paris without ever giving it a second thought ! Nowt as queer as folk as the saying goes .
I was over there in April... Makadi Bay is miles away from hurghada and completely isolated. Consequently everything there is at "special tourist prices". Red sea hotel in the complex are very tired and theres no quality in the food or service.

For similar money, you could stay at the Hilton on Sheraton Road, also through red sea holidays. Proper 5 star experience and a quick 32EGP uber to the marina (Che Guevara restaurant is consistently amazing)
