My name is Ian Philipson I am one of the directors here at Personalised … My name is Ian Philipson I am one of the directors here at Personalised Football Gifts. We have had a significant number of orders placed on our website this weekend by customers using a £10 discount code AND a 50% off voucher. Our -50% Voucher was sent to selected customers over the last 6 weeks and clearly states on the reverse side that it can not be used in conjunction with any other offer. 3. The voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. We have traced the vast majority of these orders back to the Hot UK Deals website and a posting which makes reference to the two discount codes but NO reference to the fact that they can not be used together. We have written today to all customers who have placed orders using both codes and offered to... either A) Refund the orders in fullor B) Fulfil the orders in full on payment of the shortfall. ie £4.93p Furthermore we will P&P all orders FREE of charge to UK destinations All fulfilled orders will have the discount code of -50%and Free P&P applied. In the circumstances I do not think that we could do any more.Perhaps this site could find a way to verify such postings before making them public.regardsIan Philipson

Your site should not allow more thn one code to go through at one time then-it is not our fault!
I, as did many, ordered and payment gone through, which should make the order valid and I think it's disgusting that a company should have the audacity to go back on completed orders asking for additional payments.
You should honour the sales and employ an IT/web technician who is qualified to create a checkout whereby only codes you wish to be used actually are!!
I certainly will not be using your site again if these are not honoured.

"If you have placed an order using more than one discount voucher we can give you a full refund against your order. You must phone or email us to arrange this."

I think that is disgusting, they should refund you automatically and give the option to reorder using the 50% off code. People shouldn't have to chase their own money!

Your response to this fiasco is dreadful! Your website has allowed for two codes to be accepted on the order and for the payment to be taken. However you do not accept responsibilty for this mistake and apologise. Instead you criticize HDUK. You have also garnered a lot of publicity for your website from this deal but by not honouring it, you are just damaging your rep. I will not be using your website again after this!

No need to put your age next to your name my son dose a better apology than that and he is 4 it is down to you and no 1 else. You should not take any money off my account until you have dispatched my item never mind trying to pull a fast 1 and hoping people will on the off chance pay the extra. JUST REFUND and not give me an 0844 8266 644 to waste more time and money

There must be some mistake, their website clearly states in the bottom right hand corner the words:

    Fantastic Customer Service

Surely this is a libelous comment due to it not being accurate?
  8. deleted62263's avatar
Due to some imbecile at their company people have been able to send through orders using two discount codes.
Do they honour the orders and accept their system is crap?? No they send everyone snotty e-mails instead and post ludicrous responses in here!!

How to win friends and influence people - NOT!!!

Well done Ian, what could have made you lots of money and new customers has actually alienated people and got their backs up.

Order cancelled, definitely shall not be using this tinpot company again!

come on you lot - you don't all boycott Tesco / Asda / The Hut / Zavvi / … come on you lot - you don't all boycott Tesco / Asda / The Hut / Zavvi / ELC when their glitches don't work.We all gave it a go - knowing because it was written on the pop up and the site that only one code is allowed - we tried it - was a massive bargain - it didn't come off - but neither do many of the glitches on the site. At least the boss had the balls to admit that they were declining the order because we had all clearly ordered knowing that only one code could be used - unlike this weeks ELC order glitch which has claimed things are out of stock - when they are clearly available on the site still. You take a chance on a glitch - in this case it didn't come off.As to not using them again - would you have anyway - unless there was another glitch ? I'd never even heard of them !I still think a decent personalised mug is worth a fiver - so am going ahead with my order - you win some - you lose some !

The difference is that the retailers you refer to would have refunded automatically. I just emailed them asking for a refund, if I don't hear from them by Monday then I will phone them.

I sent my email to vicky@inthepaper.emailmsg.net

Also, their website should be set up to only accept one code to prevent things like this happening.

Don't try to blame HUKD posters, your systems did actually allow 2 codes to be input in the first place! Shall certainly not be ordering again!

Seriously, no apology and we have to ring you up or email to sort out your IT incompetence to get a refund for the money you have taken from my account. Most professional companies take payment when the goods are posted. Good luck with future sales.

You have taken payment and therefore have entered into a contract which you will be in breach of if the order is not fulfilled.

Ian or whatever you called yourself, you have just made more enemies than friends. What a great way to transact business. The likes of you are the ones ruining our world like the so called bankers that plunged us into recession and yet would not even apologise for their misdeed.
I wonder how you became a director in that company.............now your response tells it all. Mscheeeeew!!!!!!!!!!!
My simple advice....honour the orders, accept the shame silently and next time do due diligence before put up anything for sale.

No mate, I got that message too. Thought I'd chance my arm anyway. Didn't … No mate, I got that message too. Thought I'd chance my arm anyway. Didn't come off - still think its a decent deal, will pay the extra. If you feel different then fine, but just let it go. All these "I'm entitiled to" posts are just embarassing.

Don't be so wimpy! You are the only embarassing person here, the point is the site let 2 codes be entered AND they have taken money, so yes we are "entitled" to the goods - grow up!
Shall certainly not be using the company again - it's just a loada cr4p. Note that Ian (age 5) has crawled back under his stone!
  17. deleted62263's avatar
The issue is how they have handled the situation plus they have already taken all the payments from people!

I am not naive, stupid or in need of your sympathy!
  18. deleted303046's avatar
    Hissy Miss

How would you have handled it then?

Hmmm...perhaps Ian Philipson's site could find a way to ensure such orders are not accepted in the first place?? Seems a bit lame to blame others when it is obviously an error on their part!

Nothing snotty about the email I received. Can't see how their post was … Nothing snotty about the email I received. Can't see how their post was ludicrous either. Did anyone who went for this deal actually have these codes sent to them? I didnt, so the fact that they will honour one of them will do me fine thank you.The site may have let you input two codes, but it clearly stated you could only use one. You chanced your arm and it didn't come off, let it go. If you're going to getstressed about companies taking money and then cancellig orders then you should really give internet shopping a miss - it's a grey area in law and until clarified by stated cases the companies are working within their terms and conditions. T&Cs that most of us broke by the way.As for wimpy? Spouting off on an anonymous forum is really taking a stand isn't it? Unless of course you can post back with proof of initiating court proceedings, in which case I will apologise.

You're right. Many companies do cancel orders and return money (thinking mainly the mis-price ones) but the point here is that they haven't done that, they want us to ring and tell them what to do. The email may have been better worded along the lines of:

We're sorry that there appeared to be a problem with our system when you placed your order therefore this has been cancelled and a full refund issued. If you would like to order again............

I'm actually curious here that if I do not contact them, to either cancel or pay the extra, what will they do with the money they have taken?
