voted very hot, wish I had seen this before booking my holiday already. The Thaiti Island Hotel looks fab for familys, family of 3 working out just over £1500 for 2 weeks including breakfast. Will definately keep a look out for next years sale.

Good price - works out so cheap because of the deal for stays at the Binion Gambling Hall & Hotel of getting 65% off the entire stay for staying 4 nights or more

Binions isn't on the Strip with all the more modern Hotels/Casinos this is on Fremont Street which is more your old style Casinos its about 15-20mins to the strip but they have loads of free casino buses and public buses are cheap, These casinos don't have all the fancy shopping malls/rides/attractions like the ones on the strip but they do have the massive overhead Screen every night(you really need to see it amazing!!) If your going with adults this would be fine but if your taking kids then one of the hotels on the Strip would be better and more central, I stayed in Harrahs which was slap bang in the middle with the monorail station joined to the back of the hotel, its one of the older hotels on the Strip but it was clean and the room was excellent, Great holiday and you don't need to be a gambler there is so many other things to see and do and eat CHECK OUT "The Cheese Cake Factory" in the Forum shopping mall in Caesars palace.

Loads of familys there when I went, Its not all about the gambling i.e CIRCUS CIRCUS hotel/casino, All the hotels on the strip have family shows and entertainment, swimming pools, even the shopping malls have daily shows for free, I thought it was all about gambling until I went. You need to see it to believe it.

Two weeks in Vegas

I'd be bankrupt, 4 days is enough but great deal

Ignoring your lack of grammar, you're showing your lack of knowledge of Las Vegas. It's certainly not all about gambling, but if you haven't been there you probably wouldn't know that. Do you think for one second that kids are allowed into casinos?????

While it wouldn't be my first choice of a holiday for kids it's :

1 - a BARGAIN price
2 - Since it's so cheap there's nothing to stop you taking internal flights and visiting other parts of the US during your stay.

For a little bit more and a bit of effort you can get so much better. for example, I go every 6 months for a fortnight. Just got back at Xmas, and I paid just under £600 for flights, carhire for 5 days (chrysler 300), 10 nights at Cesars, 2 at the Palms and 2 in LA.

Ok, could you give a little more detail then, as I'd like to do this this year with my gf

I somewhat agree that Vegas is OK for families, but I'm really not sure that Binions is. It's a bit of a dodgy old-style hotel, used to be the home of the World Series of Poker before poker got big again. It's overdue a good refurb and it's not exactly got a 'family style' pool (instead it's got a rather dull one on the roof).

Even Circus Circus would be better than this! Either way, if you're downtown, make sure you get yourself a car for the holiday - getting to the strip every day (and home to get out of the heat once or twice) will be a priority.

Heat added sounds great

Step away from the BANJOSTRING troll - do not feed it, do not look at it...

Except to maybe laugh at it's older posts, such as 'Diet Coke causes cancer', 'Blueray is like the dodo', 'iams (sic) catfood causes liver failure' and my personal favourite, the reply of 'MODS TAKE NOTE' whenever anyone comments about Banjo String's long history of trolling.

Oh, and apparently it is 'childish' to point out a troll's examples of trolling to that troll.

Get back under thy bridge, troll.

I'm reliably informed that straightforward ABC poker a couple of hours a day at a $2-$4 fixed limit table will pay for your flights in about a week.
I intend to try it sometime in the next few years!

Kids are allowed in casino's but only to pass through. The way these places are built it is difficult to get anywhere in a strip or indeed Freemont Street hotel without passing over the casino floor. I am just back from a week in Vegas and would n't recommend taking kids unless you intended to do the Canyon etc. If you do the Canyon then you will also visit the Hoover dam by default. It stands on the border between Nevada and Arizona and unless you are into several hundred mile detours is the most direct route.
I would also reccomend a few days down in rural Arizona in Red Rock country Sedona. It's only 2 hours drive from the Canyon and about 4 hours drive back to Vegas.
For the time I was there the Canyon and Sedona I would return to in an instant. Vegas I would not.

Er has anyone noticed 17th March is bang in the middle of term time - all this talk of kids, means missing two weeks of school, followed by a career as a road sweeper - is it really worth it?

Well firstly look out for flight offers, Last yearthere were about 5 different offers where flghts were cheap. I got mine for £170 with American.

Secondly, fatwallet.com > travel forums has how to get cheap rooms. The hotels in Vegas are uneblievably nice at the high end, and they are suffering big time at the moment so rooms are cheap. Through some loophole I managed to get Palms for $20 for a night. Ceasars I booked for $75 a night. Also look at www.betterbidding.com. I have Wynn come up lately for about $75 on Hotwire (read betterbidding first!!!!). At checkin, tip $20 and ask for a complimentary upgrade. I do this, and every single time without fail have gotten a nicer room than I booked. I stayed at the Augustus Tower last time at Ceasars.

And thirdly, car rental is pretty cheap through airline-network.co.uk, no excess

I would be bankrupt within a day

Would be good if the dates coincide with the Hatton Pacquiao fight.

That one is prettty accurate. Blu Ray is another Sony proprietary mess and is to be consigned to history as a failure, much like the DoDo. The BluRay market is tiny, well below Sony's estimates and is already starting to be wiped off the map by direct download based HD movie solutions.

Tying Poo Ray to the PS3 has been a millstone round it's neck in turn also led to the failure of the PS3, loss of market leading position in the games console market and has cost Sony 3 Billion in losses last year. With worse to come next year.

I went for the first time in November.
5 days there, which was about 4 days too long!

Blackpool in the sun with more money, but tacky as hell.
I would vote this HOT! if liked kiss me quick hats, but I don't.

"staying at the Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel"

This is a dump. Even for a one star hotel it gets poor reviews. Not to mention it's miles from the strip.

Think like Circus Circus but even worse - a horrible horrible hole full of pikies / degenerates.

According to Trip Advisor you can get a room for $8 for 3 nights! Not each night. $8 for all three....

That should give you an idea of how low you are sinking.

plus you get a free STD with every bed there dont forget!

Binion's Gambling Hall is a complete hole, as is downtown Las Vegas, we went to Fremont Street for a night and came back after about an hour as it is a dive.

The strip is a lot better, we stayed in the stratosphere which is at the very north end of it, Fremont street is about another 2 miles further up. The area in between could be described as interesting

I wouldn't want my kids round there at night! or the day on for that matter! (unless you want them to hang out with the tramps, take drugs, drink vodka, get mugged or get a prostitute :))

And 2 weeks is complete overkill, i'd hire a car and drive to the Canyon, well worth it and highlight of my trip there.

I doubt you could keep children occupied for 2 weeks in Vegas.

Been to Vegas 7 times and always stayed at the Orleans which is about a mile away from the strip but the casino runs a free shuttle bus from 9am until around midnight. A taxi will only cost you around $8 anyway. It has a 70 lane bowling alley, cinema complex, showroom, sports arena (watched an Ice Hockey game last time), swimming pool, spa , great restaurants and one of the best buffets in Vegas. It comes in around £500 for 14 nights. We also have stayed at the Bellagio which was nice but pricey, and at the Mirage which was disappointing, with small rooms and a dirty buffet area. In general stay away from the downtown hotels, because while the Freemont area is safe, the surrounding areas are not the sort of places you would want to wander around - especially at night. If you do go, buy the $5, 24 hour ticket which is available from the driver and takes in the whole of the Vegas bus system and yes it does last for 24 hrs from the time you buy it. Lastly - good luck at the tables!!
