This black all-new Echo Dot 3rd Generation smart speaker from Amazon is the ultimate accessory for hands-free help around the home. It works via WiFi and is voice activated, so you can carry on with other tasks. If you’d like to set diary reminders, get news updates or simply have a burning question you’d like answered, virtual assistant Alexa can do all this for you. You can enjoy music from your favourite streaming services, and you can even control other smart devices in your home, so you can lock doors, adjust temperatures and turn off lights without having to lift a finger. You can connect this device to extra speakers via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm cable too, so the whole house can enjoy the benefits.

Thanks to being compatible with a whole host of smart home devices, you can take command of everything from your lights to your television. Once you’ve connected the speaker and your compatible devices to your WiFi, you can synchronise them, allowing you to activate them all with a simple voice command. So just ask it to turn down the lights, turn up the heating and settle down for a movie marathon without having to leave your seat.

Never miss a meeting againLet Alexa keep track of your diary so you’ll never miss an appointment or a birthday again. Set reminders for anything you can’t afford to forget about, whether that be your anniversary or a hot date with the dentist. Or if you know you’ve got something important on at the weekend but can’t remember what on earth it was, as long as you added it to your calendar you can ask Alexa and it can tell you precisely where you need to be.

Music for any occasionThanks to the music features, fiddling with CDs or stereos are a thing of the past. Pair the speaker with your music streaming service and you can listen to whatever tickles your fancy. Tell it to play some blues for a chilled out evening in the week, or a party playlist at the weekend. You can adjust the volume, skip tracks, and pause playback with voice commands too, giving you complete control over your tunes.

Skills to make life simpleYour Echo can do all kinds of things with Skills. There are thousands of these add-ons for you to enjoy that let you order a pizza, book a taxi, or just add fun games for the kids to play. Simply head to the Amazon Skills store online and you can browse and download with ease. With more Skills being added every week, you’ll always have a new one that can make life even easier.

That was an insane price i agree, that was yesterday though and expired very quickly. Two for £48 is still good value.

I suspect it was a pricing error hence why they pulled it so quickly - so yes this is the price they intended on offering at and it’s a good price.

Or just to build hype and traffic to the page, probably as somebody mentioned, they had around 10-20 items at that price. Now people are waiting for the offer back, coming to the website and maybe purchasing something else as well
I did spot this new code as soon as my crazy echo deal expired yesterday but chose not to post it at the time in case of any potential backlash. This price is however still decent though. It is cheeky of AO and other retailers to bump price of Echo Dot to £29 and then 'offer' 2 Echo Dots for £48 (£24 each) when £24 for one was the normal offer price only a few days ago.

Heat added nonetheless @jamiebradleylewis

In my experience, unless you really need 2 devices for 2 different places, ( if you're going to spend £50 ) it's better to go for echo show 5. After I brought the echo show I haven't used my echo dots at all.

What extras features do you make use of? I've got the Dot with LED display arriving on Monday. Can always return and spend extra £10 for the Show

You can find lots of comparison on YouTube. In my experience, with a bigger screen - video calls, watch video such as Bbc news, use as a picture frame, karaoke, etc also I can view all my smart cameras including ring door bell and future updates or technology to come, my personal recommendation is to go for a echo show. Then again it's up to the individual reference. Hope this will help

I find the microphones infuriatingly bad. Much better on the echo or echo dot. I regret buying my Show 8 as I spend my life talking at it and getting nothing but frustration in response.

Cheers. That's given me a slither of hope. Will see if any of it helps, before I relegate the Show 8 to a cupboard shelf.
