Heat Just ordered one from amazon today

Voted hot even though it's Very!

They are actually selling them as the offer states, unlike Amazon who say save £15 when you buy 2 but actually mean save £15 on the original price. So heat given.

What does this do that you couldn't do with a few swipes of your finger etc? I am not getting it.

yeah my point exactly wtf is it and why do I need it, a bit like the crud that lets me heat my house from my phone when I can just press a switch when I get home !!!!!!!

Sometimes your fingers are otherwise engaged

Hmm wonder if it's worth it just for the Amazon Music sub alone

Guess next best deal after the Curry's price error.

All hail Curry's for honouring the glitch in many cases, including mine!

brilliant....

We find them very useful.

I love the fact that I can just tell it to connect to my home cinema, and then play music straight from Amazon Prime Music.

We listen to the news on it whilst still in bed in the morning.

My wife asks for her schedule etc.

We use it for it kitchen timers.

The to do is our shopping list.

Yes.... You could do some of these things on your phone /tablet, but you can now do these things whilst for example getting ready in the morning.

For physically able people, they are a benefit, not a necessity.

They are however really beneficial for disabled people.

My autistic son would never set alarms, but he will tell the dot to set an alarm.

Additionally he tells it to play music to help him to sleep, and tells it to turn off after x minutes.

As he sleeps so poorly, he finds it difficult to get up in the morning... As I lie in my own bed, I can start to play music in his bedroom to wake him up.

As for my mother who has very bad arthritis, she absolutely loves them. We bought one for her as a present, but she bought another, and a full sized Echo within days.

She uses it as her alarm.

As she finds it very difficult to turn over in bed to see the clock if she wakes up, she now no longer needs to, she just asks the time.

She listens to music as she goes to sleep, and can listen if she wakes up in the night, all without having to struggle.

In her living room we connected the dot to her Bose, and again without having to struggle to walk/ bend to put cds in, she has access to thousands of songs, just by speaking.

As time goes on, I wouldn't be surprised if she looks at light control etc.

I think they will become even more useful over time.

how do you get free delivery showing as £3.99 for me?

how do you select collectplus i see no option for it?

These are good, better value than the full size version although it's better to connect them to an external speaker via cable or blue tooth

Reminds me of when mobile phones first came out, I swore I would never get one yet Iv'e had loads of them

You know it makes sense

ahhhhh Collect+ is not an option with new accounts I think

I hope they are worth it

Tempted but then I'm thinking do I really need one of these and the answer is no. The Amazon marketing machine is very seductive, resist the urge.

I hope these will be seen as the trojan horse they appear to be...
... do you really want a vast corporation and government listening to every word ?

I've spent the past 20 hours bingeing on playing Watch Dogs 2 and watching Mr Robot, I'm now genuinely paranoid about smart technology and large corporations haha
