For some reason, this price sounds too expensive. Probably because I'm used to get things from gearbest less than a fiver

Anyone know if the travel adapters are available from pound shops or the likes of Home bargains?

Yeah they are
Apart from buttons, and a display, what if any are the advantages of these over the 888's? Range?
One of these into a USB plug would be neater.

Program by hand rather than cable.
Gearbest usually throw in a travel adaptor so I wouldn't expect you'd need to get another

If they supply those nice 'death-dapters' as BigClive likes to call them, throw the adaptor in the bin and never use it.

Apparently many of these are fakes and perform bad or terribly, possibly worse than the standard stubby antenna. Could even damage the radio as the vswr can be terrible. look that up if you don't know what it is.
Nerds take a look here:

No, the 888 charger cable is wired into the cradle, there is no 12v charger at the moment but there is a 12v battery eliminator so you can power direct from car 12v socket ebay.co.uk/itm…WNh

Or you could make this work if you have a usb socket in your car ebay.co.uk/itm…UJi

I know but apparently they work quite well, made in china just like the real thing. Everything that is made in china is mass produced as cheap as possible, just because you pay £12 for one and 99p for another does not guarantee you better quality, just more profit for someone.

Yeah exactly. The product remains the same. Only the profit varies.

The link to that 888s cradle with a USB plug lists the input required as: "Voltage Input: AC100V~240V/50Hz". I know it's only £2.68 but it could be £2.68 down the drain. If someone from here does buy it I'd be grateful if they could report back as up till now I've been making my own.
thanks.

In an effort to get gearbest to sort issues some info for everyone.
I have bought lots of stuff from them and generally good, but when it goes wrong its a mountain to climb.

However recent android box went wrong. First remote then box. Gearbest customer service woes started.
Offered a couple of quid refund and no joy, or even understanding of English through gearbest ticket system, next to useless.
Escalated to paypal, eventually full offer of refund.
Eventually through paypal offered a UK return address for info (gearbest ticket system contradicted what they were saying through paypal)

They then repeatedly refused delivery from courier. One could interpret this as a device to 'pretend' to offer refund then refuse to accept the returned goods. No goods return=no refund to pay.
Only when I refused final paltry offer from through paypal, (after they had previously offered full refund) did the return that mysteriously had been repeatedly rejected, was now accepted, on the day Paypal ruled in my favour for full return of money.
coincidence?
doubtful.

So if everyone uses paypal for payment and escalation, keeps full records, they will compel gearbest to fully refund. If everyone does this then maybe gearbest will sort it properly.
Hope this helps.

I would never personaly gamble much more than £20 with them, I accept there is a risk of buying from China, only reason I was willing to pay more on this deal was the fact that you get 2 radios and I had £2 in points so got them for £25, If I am unlucky and one radio is faulty I still have one radio plus spares. The cheapest UK seller I could find for 2 of these radios was £44 so I saved myself £19. There is no way I would buy a £100 plus phone from China thought as I am not that much of a gambler, as I have said before I would only list items I would buy or consider buying, It is the same If I am selling an item on eBay for example, I would only sell an item I was sure I would be happy with if I was the buyer.

If a person wants to spend a weeks wages buying an item from China supplier that is up to them, but I would not encourage it hence do not list anything of that value.
