Would you recommend these for a beginner?

Yes as you don't have to have 15KG on each dumbbell, but rather you can choose your weight to load onto each dumbbell it also depends on what you're planning on using them for, if its for adding weight to your exercises then you may be better with the £9.99 set from Argos recently posted on here which is smaller weights.

This is the deal I was referring to! hotukdeals.com/dea…847

Title is slightly confusing / misleading "2 x Dumbbells 30KG" seems like you're getting two 30kg dumbells...

This seems pretty good if they are plastic-covered plates, rather than vinyl.

Also, it shows as £15.99 for me, not £16.99. Even better!

Just ordered £15.99 !!

How about a very good bench for it chest, arms and legs any recommendtions ? Don't mind pay a Lil extra for a big guy like me

Yeah they seem to have decreased in price! Before it had £38.00 crossed out and that's also been changed to £37.00

They're concrete covered vinyl I think. If so then I wouldn't invest in them. You see these trying to be sold 2nd hand and no-one wants them.

This would be better IMO argos.co.uk/sta…htm

If plastic-covered plates (which they don't look like) then it's a scorching deal.

This has got LeeParsons written all over it, "30kg dumbbells" is like the bat signal to him

Wouldn't advise these unless they're being used casually, would advise spending a little more and getting cast iron. They're just so much more hard wearing and don't have the insides breaking up. They also feel heavier (not sure why, might just be me) and they're half the size for the same weight of concrete (roughly). Upgraded and never looked back.

Anyone know what inch bar these fit on? I have a cast iron dumbell set with 1" bar was wondering if I could just use the weights from this?

The postman is really going to love these (_;)

i wonder how mush it costs the company to ship 30kg?
where is the seller's profit?

Brilliant price. I was looking at the same weights on eBay and they usually range from £20-23, but you only get 30KG of weights and you can't put all those weights on the same bar, so you'll be limited to 15/15split, which after exercising for a while, doesn't feel like much, but is enough to build muscle.

Just a reminder to any beginner, you might want to start with resistance bands as they're cheaper and you can have up to 50kg in each hand (Obviously you wouldn't do this, but just pointing out that it gives more flexibility) for about £7. I used resistance bands when I started P90X at 10kg in each hand and after a couple of weeks was doing reps at 30kg with ease.

Dumbbells on the other hand are a lot easier to keep your form during workouts and properly exercise the correct muscle areas.

Plastic star nut? No thanks.

These are not metallic, get a S/H set of unwanted weights, plenty around.

6.3% off on TopCashBack too.

Volume sellers can get really good deals with RM/couriers now for heavier packets, all depends on their volume but some will offer under £3 per packet, I've seen down to £2+vat with one particular courier.

That's quite a misleading title they have, 2x 30g implies 2 dumbbells with a capacity of 30kg each to me.

It says: "The weight plates are covered with robust, floor-friendly plastic" if that helps

Just ordered these. Great price for 30k

If these are concrete filled plastic you will likely regret buying them.

As the centre of gravity is not in the centre, they try to rotate and feel odd. Plastic locking nuts are awful too.

I speak from experience as a teenager using my dad's set of these. You would be better served by buying iron ones, they last for ever and you can buy heavier plates as and when you need them.

Here's the description: This ergonomic dumbbell set has a total weight of 30 kg. The dumbbells have anti-slip plastic handles so you will be able to work-out without having to worry that the dumbbells will slip from your hands and fall. The screw-caps have star bolts to make sure that the weight plates are always mounted firmly and secure on the bar. The bar of the dumbbell is made of strong metal.

The grip surface is approx. 14,5 cm. The weight plates are covered with robust, floor-friendly plastic, which allows you not to experience any annoying clanging sounds of the weights.

There seems to be a lot of speculation regarding if they are or are not cement filled plates. Since none of us want cement filled plates, I tried to find further evidence of what they are.

Someone please correct me if I am talking out of my bottom, but in the disassembled picture on the product page, you can just about see a plug on the rim that is similar to those that you would find on the cement-poured ones. I don't see why there would be a plug if they were metal plates. The plugs are conveniently out of view on the other product shots.

So with that in mind I will try to cancel my order and hope for another deal, no doubt one will be along soon!

EDIT: From the Vidaxl website FAQ:

"Cancelling an order can only be done during the checkout process, prior to payment or completing the order.
Once the payment has been completed we will not be able to cancel your order as the delivery will be created soon after payment to ensure a faster shipping process."

Er... someone tell these folks what the word "cancel" means. They don't seem to know.

Good reviews on Amazon

This is the kind of set I would recommend for beginners york 50kg cast iron barbell/dumbbell set. I have had mine for a couple of years now and over time have added more weight by buying 6 x10 kg cast iron plates for £60 hotukdeals.com/dea…039 . Although it's an old expired deal you will probably pay £100 for that set .I would never buy a vinyl set ,cheap, horrible balance and they never feel right. Buy once , buy right ! buy wrong, buy twice !

Great deal, just bought the exact same ones last week on ebay. Wish I'd waited a bit and seen this!

I am after a Kettlebell. Would 10kg be too much for a beginner or too little? I am 37 male. My purpose will be used for traps and shoulders. Can someone answer, thanks.
