£5 is quite expensive for a prison meal...
Cheers for this
I do like carveries....we have a Toby here in Morecambe....but I prefer to drive to Preston or Blackpool for a Crown Carvery. They taste nicer for some reason...not sure why.

I previously thought the exact opposite was true so I stopped going to Crown. But I haven't been to Crown for about 3-4 years now so it's worth me giving it another shot!
thanks for sharing

Any excuse to get out of Morecambe!
Vouchers section?
Typical "Delicious" traditional English food...
Excludes SUNDAY!
cool... really good deal.

by the way Crown and Toby are the same company... same stuff just Crown generally a bit cheaper
It's only £6.99 anyways with most Tobys.
People on here comparing with Crown Carvery have to realise they are EXACTLY the same chain of owners in Mitchell & Butler.

No doubt all the meat and veg produce is sourced the same, the only difference is on location...you will find one Crown Carvery better than another, same with Toby Carvery.

Personally on visiting either I have not found any difference in food quality with the carvery.

Last time i went to crown carvery the roast spuds where very dark brown to black and have been reheated time and time again.

So for two people you'll save £3.98. That's a good chunk towards your drinks.

I'm sure these are hit and miss. Our local one is pretty good.

Only £5.99 at my local anyway (doesn't seem to suggest any higher on a Sunday) but £2 saving is £2. However Crown are £4.39 if you prefer those?

Three roast budget carvery is £3.99 here. It's a smaller plate but you can still have unlimited veggies. I get this as the normal plates are too big for me lol

Crown carvery was £2.99 but has been increasing for the last 2 years so we stopped going its over priced now as its hit and miss if you get a decent tasting dinner or not. we often walk in have a look to see how it looks and walk out again when it looks dry and reheated and often ask other customers who are already eating if its worth staying or not.

Your voucher is good for up to four people – so if you’d like to invite two extra friends along, be our guest. Then you can all tuck into one of our famous carvery dinners for just £20 in total.
thanks
You cannot get into the one near me on a Sunday for the white vans and pony+traps parked on the grass out the front!

My nearest Crown Carvery on Grane road in Haslingden is awful.
Luckily we have 2x Tobys in Bury where I live
When I watch Bury FC away at Morecambe I always go to your Morecambe Toby for a pre match meal, one of the best in the country surprised you don't use your local Toby !
is there a vegi option please
I prefer Raymond Blanc's chateaubriand but what can you do.
Liverpool's Toby Carverys are very good, Crown's are terrible. Good deal.
umar

Yes there is my sister had it but didn't like it
Cold - not Theo Randall

WOW it is in the Daily Mail it must be true, wont you think of the children!
Delivery driver told me only difference between Crown and Toby are that Crown use frozen stuff and Toby use fresh stuff. Dunno how true that is. I like both but think Toby are slightly better.
Thats a good price for a good carvery. We were looking forward to going to a Toby a week ago with some friends, unfortunately they changed the place to a Beefeater. Being veggie we were dismayed but thought it may be OK. The Beefeater was one of the worst meals I ever had, the sort of thing a certain chef would spit out.

What a preposterous story. Any evidence that they have since been used for cooking? No.

On topic the Tobys near me are decent and great value.

You probably just prefer the frozen veg at Crown compared to the fresh veg at Toby.
Or maybe you prefer the less fatty and cheaper top rump/topside/silverside of beef at crown, compared to the rolled rib of beef at Toby

The Crown in Fulwood (Preston) is dreadful in my opinion.
The Toby at the shrimp in Morecambe is one of the best I've been to, the downside being that they have a habit of forgetting the drinks order.

Maybe the Crown has improved in the year or so since I last went.
Plus tastes differ.

Yes without meat,veg only
Toby carvery is poor & overpriced

Mostly true. I am one of them delivery drivers, and can confirm that yes, all the veg except tates and onions are frozen at Crown, compared to nearly all fresh (bar peas and cauli) at toby. Crown turkey is frozen-fresh at toby. Top rump beef joints at toby compared to silverside at crown. You basically get what you pay for at either-and both good grub and value.
