How Does Your Emergency Services Discount Work?As our little way of saying thanks, we offer a 20% discount to Police, Fire Services, Ambulance service and NHS staff. To use this discount, we need to see a valid photocard ID card before payment (it's best to show your ID before placing your order). The 20% discount is applied to the card holders order, up to an order value of £20, and can only be used once a day. The discount only applies to the purchase of food and drink. We also offer a Military discount (Army, Navy, RAF) which works in exactly the same way, for which we'll need to see a valid Military photo ID card. Unfortunately, discounts cannot be applied to Delivery, Online Takeaway orders or Deliveroo orders. As long as the total order amount comes to over £7 after discount, you can still earn a chilli with your Nando’s Card.

Just to clarify, in my experience this is not off the whole bill, just the items eaten by the emergency services worker.
What about Coastguard? I suppose they class messing about in a boat or helicopter as just a it of fun?
This has been around for years...

I use it all the time I get it 20% off the bill but it's only 20% off £20 so £4 off.
Every time I've used it with my wife n kids they say it only applies to the highest priced single item in the order. When it first came out, it used to apply to the whole bill, but as success of the chain has grown the cutbacks have also grown eg the free pack of crayons and colouring sheets they used to do... Still better than a kick in the chicken balls though

No, free surely! How dare they make money to pay staff.

Never found a Tesco's yet that sells me a nice hot portion of Nando's fries.

Aye but if you spend less than £20 which I normally do, it's usually doesn't work out at 20%?!

You can’t though can you. Unique recipe to Nandos. Just like McCain’s McDonald’s fries are different. Also they’re chips at Nandos not fries.
But all these workers have a secure income, job for life, union protection and gold plated pensions. Why are they particularly worthy of this junk food discount?

zzz, Well my friend, the fire services work on fixed term contracts. Gold plated pensions, nope. Plus mostly are highly educated and could earn alot more in the private sector. So go back under your bridge.
Whoopee. Discount on chicken and frozen chips.
I’m a stripper by trade. Do I get 20% as standard or can I get 20% + 20% + %20 if I turn up with 3 costumes?

I do love the line of argument "..we could be earning so much more in the private sector." Seems to be popular phrase with most politician too. Go back to your Nandos (party).
I'd need a 120% discount to eat that stuff.... awful, truly awful...

Lucky enough many restaurants, retailers, holiday companies and insurance companies dont hold your opinion. Enjoy paying full price my friend.

Gold plated pensions? My military pension isn’t worth anything anymore, they could make you redundant at any time and I have no union protection.

Also OP - please add this to your description, the military get the same deal. Thanks!

Only applies to 1 person (so if bill for 4 it will only count for 1 meal)... Still decent tho, heat.
It's off food. Not the whole bill.

I'm not emergency service, but my hubby's discount has always applied to me too. :-/

There used be quite a few in London and the South who did 50% off such as Lewisham, Southwark, Park Royal, Stevenage... most don't anymore. Do you know of any that still do 50%?

Was that recent as they have changed the rules in the last 2-3 months
Used to be off whole food bill (not drinks) now the discount is just deducted from one meal.

Ah, no it wasn't within the last 2-3 months. I hadn't realised they'd changed their T&C's. Thanks.
As someone else said above, it's just for 1 person, but we always go for a platter to get around this
Nothing new.
And applies to food.
