Being a snob, I do like to travel First Class when bought at the right price (NXEA being a good example) and I am doing a return trip from London to Newcastle later this month but I can't justify the £255 return fare when I've already bought my return ticket in 'Peasant Class' for £25

Nothing new as East Coast always offer 20% off the advance fares BUT its only on their own trains, on some services on some days but its nothing new

Handy for me as I travel on Eastcoast evey week and this put the 1st Class Advance cheaper than Standard if you go far enough in the future.

Since when has First Class ever been cheaper then Standard Class, no matter how far in advance one books the ticket? Being a weekly traveller on East Coast I'd like you to tell me how and on what route for it's for certain that I've NEVER seen it and that's not due to a want for trying.

Got a train 2 months ago from Doncaster to Newcastle. 1st Clas was £4 cheaper :-)

That was not even with a discount actually. It was just cheaper. I agree it is crazy.

Last time they ran this promotion my weekly commute to Hull (the east coast section is only from Newcastle to York) ended up being about £2 cheaper than Standard.

Thanks for your reply. I had rather hoped that you had found a way where I could go from/to LONDON to York/Newcastle/Edinburgh/Glasgow in Ist class cheaper then in Standard Class but it would seem that these 'special prices' are area specific.
