Wouldn't it be nice if, after 4pm, we had several thousand comments saying everything went smoothly and everybody got their 20% discount, whether from an auction, Buy It Now, on multiple items in the basket and from all sellers with no exceptions. You know, as this is supposed to work.

But I can't seem to shake the nagging feeling I have that there will be absolute PANDEMONIUM on here from 4.01pm!

I can see it now - numerous rants about things being unfair, opinions about 'breach of contract law', quotes from the Consumer Protection Act, Facebook & Twitter campaigns, even emails to David Cameron and, ultimately, countless threats by HUKDer's to consult their fictitious lawyers before proclaiming their intention to never, I repeat NEVER, buy on Ebay again!!

I wonder what will go down first - Ebay? Paypal? Facebook? HUKD?

The so called "journalists" over at the Daily Fail are sharpening their pencils as I write this...................................................

Well done OP - You've literally helped countless people on here save many thousands of pounds collectively. And not only that, you've also helped many Ebay sellers make a few unexpected pounds profit. Very timely for everybody being just before Xmas.

You should definitely get your VIP badge after this!

They haven't even factored in all the fees which would be £33.70.
  36. sham63's avatar
I wonder if the retailers putting up the prices by £50 think they have to take the discount hit and not Ebay?
Otherwise it makes no sense because they would have sold 100s during the discount period and still make their usual profit, but by upping the price they will just sell what they normally do on any given day and miss the chance to make loads of extra sales and profit.

Well it really depends who is absorbing the cost of the discount. If eBay … Well it really depends who is absorbing the cost of the discount. If eBay are forcing everyone to discount their product 20% for their own benefit, then as a merchant I wouldn't be too happy. If, on the other hand, eBay are covering the cost then what they're doing it's pretty ****!

I run an ebay business and also buy on a 'normal' account, ebay never charge me when the codes are active and I can buy from my normal account and use the code...and no I do not buy my own items before anyone asks if it works.
Putting up prices is a despicable practice and I suggest you report the listings to ebay...in fact I suggest you flood ebay with complaints...they may contact the sellers, equally they may stop the codes.
