I saw this offer last month on the Paypal website, i followed the link from the website got the prices with the supposed discount, then with me being curious, I decided to have a look at the prices via search engine route, to my dismay they were exactly the same prices as I had received earlier through the link on Paypal.

Dont beleive all you see!

i booked flights through monarch a few days ago so out of interest i followed this paypal link and did a quote for same flights/dates and lo and behold same price!!

Sorry voted cold (the first time I have by the way)

Reasons are that 1st you can get cheaper flights to some of the destinations with other airlines but 2nd and more importantly you get the same price regardless if you go through payppal or not. A very poor deal over all in my opinion and am surprised at the heat.

Surely a special offer that isn't actually a special offer is not very legal, is it?

Had I wanted to go somewhere specific, I might well have been induced to make a booking on the strength of that.

Anyone from Trading Standards care to venture an opinion?

Not sure about this, but it does say that offer is not available in conjunction with any other offer (or words to that effect) - as Monarch currently have a discount of £30 on all seats this may be why they won't honour any extra discount with the PayPal offer?

I called Monarch as I had been watching their prices too.

Apparently, the website fares are currently discounted by a similar amount through a different promotion (you won't get both discounts) - that promotion is only running for a few days whereas the Paypal one runs for much longer and will still be available when the other ones aren't.
Also, the website offers exclude certain dates and/or destinations where the Paypal offer is across the board (until end October 2008).
