Being in the Forces has it's advantages- not quite as good as the USA over here with love for troops, but if you don't ask you don't get. We went into the Mazda garage in Lincoln for a looksee and were told that or production of a military ID card, Mazda offer a straight 20% off any new car you buy from them... We saved over £4000 on a new CX-7. More than enough for me to get my new sit-on lawnmower!

Good deal, but you can save that much through an online broker.

Should be more imo!

how does the build quality compare to a Vickers' ?

Any other car manufacturers that offer similar deals? Hubby is an ex army reservist wonder whether this would work.

More companies should do this for you guys.... much respect!!!

I have a Mazda and would never buy again. They are cheap s***

The car is not even two years old and the remote central locking is dead, air vents have all snapped as they're made of cheap plastic. Passenger seat keeps beeping when no one is sat there, belt buckle in the rear just fell apart and the underseat bar has snapped.

Surely the army are supplied with enough substandard kit without this.

Common everyone - lets heat this up to increase the profile of / give support to the troops. This seems a good deal as they used to reserve this for overseas postings - though most forces cannot afford new cars in the UK.

Mazda have a great rep for reliability and build quality, I have had 2 over the years, our last Mazda 6 estate was 4 years old with 160K on the clock when we finished with it - no complaints nor broken plastic! If yours has been serviced to Mazda requirements it should be in warranty. Like most modern cars, if you put something on the front seat it will beep to fasten the seatbelt - read your handbook for the override.

not all mazda cars are bad.
I believe the MX5 has pretty much wrapped up the best roadster on the market since it launched., and having known a good number of people with them i can say with certainty that whilst basic, they are very reliable vehicles.

3 year warranty, get it fixed, i jus bought new mazda 3 sport, so far so good

Vauxhall certainly do a discount scheme for many large employers - Vauxhall Partners, I believe they also include the forces in that scheme.
Discounts vary hugely depending on model and trim level.

NHS, Civil Police, lots of other companies get this discount, be it cars or other items. So please don't turn this into a HM Forces bashing thread.

It just happens that this particular thread is open to HM Forces personnel on this occassion.

Here are some more partner companies that can recieve discounts. These are a list for GM Cars (Vauxhall,Saab etc) A Selection of Companies within the Associate Partners Scheme are:
•Parcel Force
•Post Office
•Prison Officers Association
•Rentokil Initial PLC
•Royal Mail
•Southern Water
•Police Federation
•Asda Stores
•British Airways
•BSM
•BT
•Co-operative Group
•EDF Energy
•John Lewis Partnership
•Legal & General
•Morrisons PLC
•Civil Servants (CSMA Members)
•Health & Education Workers (members of UNISON)

More info at vauxhalloffers.com/par…php

you got a site like that for Ford? Reason i ask is, lots of online companies are spouting 28% - 40% discount on new fords for HM Forces, but when i contacted Ford HQ, they said 10%!

I think all manufactures offer a Tax free option which our troops can take advantage of, i used to work for Audi, and through a third party down in Brighton, we use to ship on avg 20 cars a month to army personel.

Seems a good deal, hopefully more manufactures will follow suit...

Check the badge - doesn't sound like a Mazda anyone else has bought!

I'm on my second Mazda6, both have been brand new. The first one I had for about 75K without a single fault and this one which i've had since last October and has already done 9K is looking exactly the same way. This new one drives even better then the first and the build quality is top notch.

My in-laws always used to have Ford Focus's with loads of problems until I recommended trying the Mazda3 and now they're on their second and totaly converted. Pound for pound they're undoubtedly the best cars you can buy for your money.

Most do I think, definitely Ford. Got a mate in the forces and he gets discount off a lot of cars.

We own 2 Mazdas the 323 and the 6

(owned the mazda 6 for 4 years no problems)

GREAT Deal... have some heat... and I thank all our Forces.

Im sure many of them dont agree with the current conflicts, but its their job to rise above that and be proffesional. If you want to have a go, have a go at our politicians, they are the decision makers.I agree our soldiers are being sent in to wars that are unecesarry, is it their fault or the govenments?I do admit i cry everytime i see a soldier returning in a coffin on the tv, its unfair...and thats why i have every respect for them and anyone who provides them help. And it really gets my back up when people bash our forces/soldiers.

They could refuse to go, or quit.

Yes they'd be punished but that's matter for their own conscience.

Nice question. If he says 'yes' then he's complicit and if he says 'no' you can wheel out the 'you have no right to complain' spiel.

Fingers crossed no one notices:whistling:

Are people trying to say that the country can do without the Armed forces? Because we're in those places because we were given orders to by the people that YOU(Or at the very least the majority of you) voted into power. But if you want us to all lay down our arms and see how long the country lasts without us, we're willing to give it a shot if you are? Personally I don't think that we deserve special treatment for the job we do, but recognition for the difficult task we perform so that you can go to work in your nice warm IT office(Your choice) is always appreciated.

It's a matter for your conscience.

Your employer lied to you and put you in harms way.

Personally, I'd quit my job if my employer did that.:whistling:

I didn't vote for them but that's by the by.

Many good men have faced punishment to ensure they have a clean conscience.

I understand your argument, and if the world were as easy and clean-cut as that we probably wouldn't even be in Afghanistan. I live with my decisions and carry on working on contributing to, hopefully, saving lives and keeping the country safe.

To each their own.

I haven't yet put a price tag on my 'values' so I can't comment.

I have a Mazda 3 - per picture. Deisel. does 60 mpg, which is as much as you can get without going to a matchbox.

Picked it up at 18 months old and have now had it 2 years (55 000 miles) and love it. no reliability problems, just an excelent, quick motor.

And best of luck to the armed forsec who deserve our respect.

I agree - walk a mile in their shoes and then criticise them.

That way, you're a mile away and you've got their shoes.
