lol...why would ANYONE with an Android phone pay for these? you get Free Voice guided satnav built into the phone using Googlemaps, why would you pay another £20 for something youve already got free????

Great if you have unlimited data plan. The situation changes if you are abroad. That's why.

Yup..its called Locations
Googlemaps is totally useless without data connection - much of the time when you're away from signposts!

I've had no end of trouble with Co-Pilot, though, both the software and administration (it randomly decides I've not paid or registered, so won't work). When it does work, it's pretty good. Oh, apart from the times it decides just to reboot my phone, usually just before a complex junction.

I've not researched the alternatives, but assuming there is any viable alternative (which I don't count Googlemaps as) I'd be tempted to avoid Co-Pilot at any price.

Me... I have a Samsung Galaxy tab wifi only and this works great on just a gps signal. My data plan on my phone is only 500MB a month and would get eaten very quickly. Also this has a lot better GUI and Satnav direction than the one on my phone and is much easier to see.

?? 99% of Smartphone users will have data in their plan - if they dont, they they shouldnt be owning a smartphone.

Googlemaps navigation hardly uses any data.

I have used both and co-pilot beats it hands down!
So £19.99 for this is sound.
copilot USA is only £1.93 + vat and you download the map to your phone.
T-mobile charge £7.50 per 1MB when data roaming in the USA. I really like copilot works a treat on my atrix. Also shows a picture of complex junctions to help you choose the correct lane on motorways. Google gets the job done but copilot does it better imo.

As has been pointed out - Googlemaps needs data.

Even if you have an unlimited data contract that doesnt always mean that the data is available when you need it.

I've been stuck in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish Highlands without a data connection which rendered Googlemaps useless.
Copilot can be had for free, it has been cracked and a simple Google search will show you how...

The latest android devices have something called 'Locations' built in, which is basically sat nav with the maps on your memory stick, so no need for data

Likewise the 42" Plasma being advertised for £329 on another thread can be had for free.

Simply gain entry to an owner of the TV's house (ideally when they are at work) by breaking a window / forcing a door and remove their TV and place it in your own house. Be sure to wear a mask and a stripey top.

Obviously no Quidco with this method.....
