Seems to be a good deal to me. Obviously the further you live from Birmingham the less attractive it is.(I mean the deal is less attractive not Birmingham)
For the money, they do a good job.
Used their service a year ago and Alloys still look great.
May give it a go. Is it £30 or £20 per wheel?
30 with tyres on and 20 without tyres on
i need 2 of my alloys refurbed...losing around 15psi a week.

My local tyre place tells me the lips of the wheels are corroded and need to be renewed but they cant do it.

My local alloys place only seems to do complete tyre refurbs, they only seem to offer one (very high) price and will powder coat my alloys neon purple for that price if i want.

this deal seems an excellent price. any reviews from last time it was listed?

places like chips away do this also but only seem to do cosmetic repairs to the surface of the wheel (i.e. remove scuffs)

it seems ridiculously difficult to find someone who will stop an alloy leaking for less than the cost of a new steel wheel? what am i doing wrong? i'm in edinburgh...
under 18 inch rims only for this price...
It's wheels. Not rims. We haven't been subsumed by Obama Inc. just yet:)

40 quid to have your tyres taken off and put back on? My local does that for a fiver.
Cheap rim job
I think you need to state in title it's per wheel.

Good, so you can go there, get them to take the tyres off, say "hang on, I just need to take the alloys to Birmingham", go to Birmingham, get them powder coated, go back, and then they can put them back on. I'm sure they will be happy.

Unless you have a spare set of wheels of course. Im not sure that you really can get them off for only £1.25 each...

Give IPF Powder Coating in Glenrothes a call, not too far from Edinburgh and are reasonably priced, about £35 a wheel last time I used them.

That's good of them. My local refuses to offer any kind of car servicing, the landlady swore when I asked her and screamed "We're a bloody pub not Kwik Fit!"

Do they come out or will I have to take the toilet to them?

You're endangering public safety by using a vehicle with faulty wheels.

Put your hand in your pocket and get it fixed or don't use the car.

You're as bad as the muppets who drive on bald tyres until the MOT comes round.

Worth noting it's only another fiver per wheel for us 19" ers

I'd be more concerned with the corrosion on the inside of your wheel and the tyre pressure loss than getting them painted neon purple.

If the alloy has extensive corrosion and fails at speed it wont be a pretty sight.
Anyone know of anywhere in East Anglia that does this?
Also can they colour match existing wheels or would they all need doing in the new color?

getting a refurb will not stop the air leak, as it is purely cosmetic

my FocusST alloys were "leaking" and I thought the same, the refurb guys told me likewise... ultimately they just wanted my money and lied

it will cost a lot more than £20 to get the work done to remove the corrosion etc., this lot will just be spraying on top - might be worth looking for a local tyre repair place and ask them to seal your tyre

get yourself a Ring air pump so you can fill up every day and save up for new alloys - yes it's a chore, but keeps you safe

Taken off, refitted, balanced and put back on the car?
Anyone know any good cheap places in London who do this?
any branches north east??

Catering to the lowest denomination are we? If think the guys here at hukd are smart enough to to work out that £30 for all 4 wheels is way to cheap.

If you thought is was then u need to look in the mirror and
think this is service I am thinking about. if you scratch / buff your alloy wheel side due to kerb for example this service and similar will make them look like new afterwards?

Thanks

i have a ring compressor and have commented recently in threads for those. i also have colour changing tyre valves which warn a 5psi change in pressure and usually refill my tyres twice a week so am trying to keep on top of the safety side.

my garage wont touch the wheels, my local tyre place (not kwik fit) reckons they cant reseal alloys. the local alloys refub company want 380 for 4 tyres on a honda jazz and wont consider doing anything but a full refurb.this is more expensive than 4 new steel wheels fitted. the tyres themselves are good quality 4 season tyres (bridgestone a001)not 4 diferent chinese brands on each corner.

my question is where is the middle ground...which type of business should i expect to reseal alloys and broadly how much should resealing cost.

I would try puncture repair first. had the same problem on 2 wheels, thought it was the alloys leaking, took it to a garage to do puncture repairs for £5 each and the problem went away

One of my alloy wheels was losing pressure so the local fitting place took an angle grinder to the inside edge of the rim and did a bead seal on it. it has been fine since. have you checked that is not the problem?
Very cheap that for a good rimming.
I had one of my Volvo alloys welded. Had a crack on the inner rim. Cost fifty quid which I thought a fair price incl tyre off, tyre on, valve n balance. This was in Blackpool by a motorsport company that do custom alloys, exhausts, pipes etc etc
Used these a few months back. Dropped the car off in the morning and picked it up around 5. All done. All 5 wheels 18". I think it was £45 a wheel. I didn't have to lift a finger.
Cracking service.

Next time you have tyres fitted make sure you go somewhere that knows what they are doing/cares. It's simple enough to get a tyre to seal on a alloy wheel but takes 5 minutes longer (a good tyre fitter will quickly see any pitting or corrosion on the bead. They should then offer to clean the bead and apply a sealant like this one tyrebaydirect.com/29-…tml prior to fitting. This sometimes means putting the wheel on the balancing machine and whilst spinning they give it a good clean with a rotary wire brush. Our local guy charges an extra £1 per wheel for this invaluable bit of effort....bargain). So there is no reason for a leak straight after a new tyre has been fitted (unless you've done something silly).
So before having new tyres fitted ask if they offer this service......if not then drive away!
