They are so slim I don't understand where they are supposed to sit! Do they stand upright?

You can site them pretty much where you like as long as its away from water, fires and the like.
They are designed to be descrete and blend in with the room. The ones I have seen at friends houses have been mounted vertically and frequently either side of a flat screen TV.
Mouting instructions and more info can be found in the PDF manual by clicking on the link in comment #1 box.

These will be rubbish. Avoid.

hello there

is there a input in these 3.5mm ?

Anyone seen these in action and know anything?
I want to replace my 2 front speakers on my surround sound system with these.
So any real practical advice and opinions appreciated.

PS. PULSE is a good name in Audio equipment.

Just ordered for our dining room to link to a yamaha vx- v373 i picked up for £80 on a richer sounds deal. I'm not expecting them to be outstanding and have another system I use in the room for music which is much better. These are perfect for the odd bit of XBMC and Apple TV whilst eating dinner. Will just stick them on the wall behind the amp (will the velcro) and tell the wife not to crack up the volume too much!

Will be? So you have no idea if they are.

Hot!

These are 4 ohm speakers, might have issues as most amps are rated from 6 to 8 ohms.

Does that make a difference? I was reading up about it before I put the order in and the general consensus was not really an issue?

Here is the ohm...it does say 8ohms but then has the full range from 2-8 below...will it be ok?

If it says of the box it must be. I've never gone that low but looking back I've only really connected large floor standing speakers so that is probably why
I've just found this sengpielaudio.com/cal…htm and it looks like it explains that low ohm / low watts is fine but when you go up in wattage it puts more strain on the amps power supply. At 20 watts rms per channel your amp will barely notice the load.

can you connect these to a 32inch wall tv or do you have to buy special connectors ? thanks

can you connect these to a 32inch wall tv or do you have to buy special connectors ? thanks

Weirdly the us model is actually 8ohms but the european model is 6ohms. In the US model there is a mode to switch it down to 6ohms that also states
Setting the speaker impedance:-
(U.S.A. and Canada models only)
Under its default settings, the unit is configured for 8-ohm speakers. When connecting
6-ohm speakers, set the speaker impedance to “6 MIN”. In this case, you can also use 4-ohm speakers as the front speakers.

You can't access this mode on my model but as the european model is already set to 6ohms I am guessing this will be ok from the above?

You will need an amp of some form...which will probably need an optical or HDMI in port (most modern amps) as most TVs now don't have analog out.

Just to be clear even if your TV does have analog out....you will still need an amp for these speakers :-)

sorry to be a pain but how much will a typical amp cost and is concealed when fitted havn't got a clue ?

@333shine I spent a few hundred on my amp & it certainly ain't concealed... chunky thing that it is!

imagine having a shoe-box for Dr Martens under your TV all the time

can't see any info on the connections, but looks like these speakers have wires which you need the press-n-grab holes on an amp, not your standard jack plug that you would have on your phone etc

hope that helps 333shine

Official manufacturer website details and specification:

pulse-audio.co.uk/505…tml

· Slim, discrete design
· Aluminium housings
· Black finish
· Excellent sound quality – ideal for use with or without a subwoofer
· Clear mid range for projection of vocals
· 80W Peak/40Wrms utilising a dual drive units
· Supplied with 3M adhesive pads plus additional wall brackets
· Frequency Response: 140Hz – 20kHz
· Wattage (RMS/PEAK): 20W / 40W
· Impedance: 4?
· Weight (each): 480g
· Dimensions (WxHxD): 37 x 656 x 20mm

You can actually get 40W RMS out of these, plenty for home cinema volumes that aren't obnoxious to the neighbours. The CPC website incorrectly lists the 400B model specification, aka 20W RMS maximum on the single drive unit version. The 650B model for sale in this deal is actually dual drive and supports 40W RMS.

I'm far from an expert but it is a bit like asking how much is a car mate...can spend a little to a lot...eBay might be your best bet...most amps are fairly sizable...do you want it for music/tv or both? From you quote I'm guessing you want it as flat screen TVs audio is rubbish...in which case an AV amp if probably what you are looking for...you could get this amp for £99 is signed up to VIP with richersounds...you might be better going with the lower powered speakers to match that amp ohms wise but I am sure someone on here will tell you can use either...this is just a starter point in the right direction....most amps are pretty big too....I've got a DM-39 which is a really nice little amp if you are looking at discreet but with optical in but you are looking at £175....again the ohms confuses me but i think it would be fine with these...hopefully somebody in the know will confirm!

thanks cantonbean, thought you could just plug them in tv, can i put them in my surround sound system which is only 2.1 at moment thanks

Nice tripath TA2020 should drive these, wonder what the quality is like.

Lowest freq on these speakers is 140hz, so no bass there, possible a tiny bid of mid bass, will need to be paired with a subwoofer, Ideal for Home Cinema systems though.

Depends on the specs of the system...but it theory yes as long as it has speaker terminals...

Alternatively if you are using them in a home cinema setup without a subwoofer you can simply redirect any bass from the small speakers to larger ones. In my case I'll be using these as slim center speakers and redirecting bass to the larger floodstanding left and right speakers I have.

I think you nailed it, buy these and a cheap micro amp off Amazon to power them for a secondary TV.

If you know the + and - on the 2 speakers connected to the Sub Woofer on you r 2.1 speaker system. You can splice these Pulse 650B speakers on to the speaker cable of your 2.1 speakers as the amplifier will support both sets. The only thing is you will gain a more balanced sound but loose some of the Bass / Depth, If your willing to compromise this is an option & no need for an amplifier. Have done this many times, I find that most 2.1 systems lack midrange & these will give you that me thinks

My Bobo setup from the deal you posted ages ago was great with that! However I have since started using them with a DM39 to give music from my iMac a little more power! Trust this man...he is an audio fiend!

DM39 is a lovely little system, I have an Onkyo thats similar in my bedroom, how are you getting on with it? You are not doing it justice with the BoBo's, as good as they are the DM39 can drive some stunning speakers.

To be honest i originally bought it to use with the Mission MX1s I got with it...I've since bought a Pioneer XCHM81 for the built in Airplay that it paired to the MX1s as my main audio system (these one from this deal are just for pairing for occasional use with a rx-v373 i managed to get for £80 when were doing 20% off clearance at richer sounds!) . TBH although XCHM81 is more convenient then linking the DM39 to apple tv, I still kind of prefer the sound of the latter as I listen to a lot of rock, dance and hip hop so tried about five different sets of speakers including 9.1s, v1i and 2020i...for my tastes MX1s were the best....the DM39 is a bit overkill and wasted with the Bobos but they look nice with the iMac (vain i know!) and don't use for music other then for sat at computer so ok for that...the onkyo isn't the htx-22hdx is it? I've got that (including the extra speaker set which i ran over to richer sounds in notts to pick up one of the last anywhere!) in a 3.1 system set up in the front room as needed small but good quality...love it!

The Onkyo is a CS-245 I think, great little system for the main bedroom, I have Vortexbox running on a PC with Pogoplugs running as multiroom players with USB dac's. I'm looking at changing my AE 2.1 system on the PC this week to some active monitors or some nice bookshelves and a small Naim unit. We have a Naim system downstairs and I like the sound so wouldn't mind a smaller version in the office/study as I work all day in here and need music. Getting a bit sick of the sound of 2.1 systems.

Did consider moving the Onkyo in here and putting some CM1's on it, the Onkyo is a bargain for £129? I think I paid from Richer sounds.

Mine isn't the DAB version, just FM. But the Pogoplugs are like £20 and I use internet radio which is higher quality than DAB so I can listen to Absolute 80's on there hehe!

£99 is amazing for the DAB version though! I thought the speakers supplied would be rubbish, but they are actually really good.

P.S. I like my audio but not as serious as you are...NAIM a bit out of my price range as like to have good music all over house so £200-£500 per room was my budget over time inc speakers!
