Erm... it’s to stop plastic going into land fills...

I'm yet to understand why anyone even buys cotton buds. What does everyone …I'm yet to understand why anyone even buys cotton buds. What does everyone use them for?

1.Used dampened with water for cleaning gunk out of the corners of kittens eyes.
2. Moistened with alcohol for cleaning electrical contacts, cpu's prior to thermal paste, battery terminals etc.
3. With very hot water for treating early styes on eyelids
4. Anything requiring precise application of solvent or grease or cleaning.

In short a marvellous invention!

Most people stick them deep in their ears - even if the box says not to... because it doesn’t work well and just pushes most of the wax deep inside your ear...

But I’ve used them like 5 times to clean the lumpy bits(?) inside my baby’s ears

Some people use them for makeup tho

Cool that list makes sense in which case unless your really unlucky with styes or have a cat with chronic conjunctivitis or work with electrical equipment for your job this 35p box will last for ages.

Heat to OP.

And what about that plastic you put in the bin, where's that going? In the ground for a millenia or in the ocean #89quidyoucantgowromg get to grip with reality we are killing the very thing we need to survive and comments like that, why change won't happen

I think YOU need to get a grip on reality. Plastic cotton buds were hardly low hanging fruit for landfill reduction. Good grief. The issue with them was nob-ends flushing them down the loo and our antiquated Victorian sewer systems overflowing when there was heavy rain. The storm drains overflowing into the sewers was washing them into rivers along with wet wipes and tampon applicator tubes. Do keep up.

Totally agree, and what is wrong with landfilling plastic. It is a very stable and non toxic substance. There is also an argument for incinerating it too (both options exist for those materials that aren't being recycled)

Obviously we should avoid creating unnecessary waste wherever possible.
I had a feeling this post would resolve to this comments

Yeah I was quite guilty with that before too. Now the best way to clean my ears is blasting with the shower on the high pressure setting.
