You buy retro games, and in a few weeks time you can buy original games from Nintendo. Wii Points are a kind of currency to get these games. 500 gets you a NES game, 1000 gets you a N64 game. Erm... 800 SNES games and 600 megadrive games.

thanks a lot - much needed!

Might not turn out to be such a good idea if Nintendo pull their finger out... But they probably won't!

And will also get you Wii Ware games shortly... My advice - WAIT FOR THESE - a few quality looking games, likely to get more playtime than the vc retro stuff..

Im waiting for the wii ware too, as plenty of Nes/Gamegear/Snes/Megadrive/Gameboy Advance/Pc engine/N64 (Still in development with none offering 100% compatibility) emulators availble for pc's online with 1000's of roms for FREE.

Seem very expensive to purchase for the wii.

WWF No mercy on the N64 Emulator is class Just had to purchase USB joypad adapter, N64 Joypad and mem card to get the full experience.

Potential trouble from Nintendo in the future though, seeing as it is very easy to tell if you have genuinely acquired the game ...

Amen to that. Its sometimes cheaper to buy games from a bootfair then from this. However there are a few gems out there that cost more than £20 to get in original format, and so the Wii Points prove to be beneficial.

tesco.com/ent…N=4

Same thing, a penny cheaper plus free delivery (and quidco).

I never knew you could get these games as i have only just bought a wii, is there a list of games and prices anywhere??

Thanks, for this, heat and rep given, ended up buying a 4GB sdhc to go with it!

Uninstalling is fine, but kinda defeats the point of it for me. Don't get me wrong - I think the WAD installer/exploit lark is dead amusing, but a ball-ache for what it is, considering quite a few games force a Wii update at the moment (or have done for me).

Nothing will ever be quite as good as how easy it is for games on the DS ;-) (or the XB360 for that matter - dead easy to flash the SATA optical drive firmware! :w00t: )

but surely they would still know, seeing as you can re download at no extra charge once youve bought a game off vc? if you uninstall they still know what games you've bought off vc.

^^With the wad installer you don't buy or download them from the virtual … ^^With the wad installer you don't buy or download them from the virtual console so when installed they won't know as its removed from your system.^^Well actually I beg to differ I've yet to have a single problem with my Wiikey, 6 wires isn't much at all to solder and with the new wiiclip out that just clips onto your wii in seconds it's now so easy.

Flash Card/Firmware update > Soldering.

Although 6 wires is a piece of cake to solder, not everyone can do it well enough not to cause problems.
The Wiiclip (not familiar with it) sounds pretty interesting. I'm still going to wait until the warranty on mine expires before I meddle, though.

And don't forget the obvious flaw in suggesting the WAD installer/exploit etc - not everyone wants to break the law. (up for debate considering you may own the game on another system, but I am sure a court would deem it illegal)

Hmm ... I wonder how long until a similar solution addresses all chip variations? I wouldn't be comfortable taking the monetary risk just yet!

Yeah, good deal. Amazon are not showing any stock but Tesco are. Delivery looks to be slow with an estimated 3-5 days to ship, but at £11.97 for 2000 points, then using the code 'freedel' to get freedelivery and taking the quidco into account, a much better deal.

I just bought 4000 points for a grand total of just over £21.

£25.93 - £3.28(for free delivery) - £1.23 (for quidco, it hasn't gone through yet but that's 7% of the final total minus £5 which is the normal way they work it out, so I'm playing on the cautious side)
