Found 6th May 2012
With BMI being integrated into BA their frequen flier programmes will be joined together. BMI are currently offering 20,000 destination miles if you take out their MBNA branded card and spend just £250 on it in the first 90 days. You also earn Up to 1.5 miles for every pound spent, and purchases are interest free for 3 months along with a years interest free on transfers (3% fee). Then, come July, just transfer the miles across to your avios / BA miles account...

On top of this, quidco will give you £15 for taking out the card! So, 20,000 BA miles and they pay you!

Good one..... Lets give it a try !!!
Thanks OP. Opened one with Quidco. Heat added...
Looks good to me, thanks OP, voted hot
Thanks. Hot for me
Will the BMI scheme def become Avios? If so Will they be able to add to an existing Avios account?

Thanks.
HOT....once they change to Avios, you will only need to pay taxes of £27 (per flight) to Europe. 20,000 avios will give you 2 return flights to Europe (or one return flight to Istanbul or Marrakech).

Don't think so - it's all done automatically with the application
Hmm, I already have a bmi/mbna card. Could I take another out?
Sorry, am I misunderstanding this?

This is a deal where you can travel for 20,000 miles for free? So like, you can go to Australia and back for free?

It just seems too good to be true so I think I must have got something wrong.

under avios you have to pay taxes and 20,000 airmiles is equal to 200,000 avios so really you will only get to north africa not oz...
unless i'm missing something, it's 20,000 avios for 250 quid minus £15 quidco = £235.

You can buy 20,000 avios for £335 on ba.com, so I guess compared to that it's a good deal....

.....but it's not 20,000 avios for nowt as you have to spend £250.

am I missing something?

Presumably you actually buy something with the £250, even if it's just groceries so you're not exactly paying £250 for the avios!

this is the hottest deal ever if true

yes you are missing that you can actually BUY goods .. so you have £250 worth of goods (groceries, clothes, etc)

on a seperate note, what if you already have an American express card (got the BA branded one when they were dishing them out)?

Understood! Blonde moment!
ok so i already have a BA executive account with avios. does anyone know if I get this BMI credit card if I can transfer my avios to one single account?
Original Poster
Yep, that's the plan
Does anyone know how to access the diamond account that they set up when you set up your credit card?
Original Poster
I would presume that the account would be created when you get your first statement with spending on when they credit the miles. Should be details with that. I have my cards but haven't spent anything on them yet!
I can't find this on Quidco?
Gave this one a go and opened the card accounts. Had to buy a large over £500 electrical item anyway so no worries. Made the transfers between accounts (all on-line) in moments and now have 20K+ Avios points in my account that would have cost £355 to buy. Remember use the Amex Blue card only to get 1.5 points per pound and shop via the BMI webshop to get even more points. BARGAIN!
I've finally sorted everything out, and I now have the 20k extra points in my Avios account. (I used it to buy something I would have purchased anyway.) This is one of the hottest deals ever: I've just been e-mailed an 'offer' from Avios, where I can purchase 19000-23000 points for £319-£383, and I will get 4000 bonus points! This shows how good this offer is. Thanks OP.
I'm obviously missing something here. 20,000 miles sitting in my BMI Diamond Club account, but no obvious way to convert them into Avios.

I'm guessing I need a BA Executive Club account? And if I open one of those it will be the basic (blue?) one - will that allow a transfer to Avios at a 1:1 rate?
Original Poster
You'll need to open BA account and transfer them across. Need to do it before the end of October too or they'll expire
Anybody know if i can book Eurostar tickets with these points, and if so, whats the process

thanks
Do you have to spend £250 or can you balance transfer that amount?
Is this still available on quidco please?
