New 2016 13" MacBook Pro, currently selling at £1299 at Currys which is already £150 less than Apple Store price. Quidco currently offering 11% off all purchases pre-vat saving a further £119.

This is the non-touch bar model, which is more like a MacBook Air replacement rather than a MacBook Pro due to the lower power processor. However, this has had more favourable reviews than the 13"/15" touch bar models. The touch bar models are also discounted £200 vs Apple standard prices as well as a further 11% cash back.

If you are in the market then this is the best price I have seen.

Overpriced as hell, UK got a £400 price bump for nothing. Also has terrible batteries.

Get a 2015 model or a windows machine.

As i said the battery issues are on the touchbar models not this one. This one has been reviewed favourable, easily getting the claimed 10 hours if not more.

And the price increase was because these are the new models, Apple always increases the prices then drops them 1-2 years later. Also because of the Brexit vote GBP has dropped against USD. This with cash back is currently cheaper than the 2015 model.

So I personally waiting a year or two yet to see if price drops and GBP rises but if you are looking for one now then it is a good price.

Spent £3200 on the new 15" Pro, 16gb Ram, 1TB PCI-E SSD, higher processor. In all honestly , Specs are great, however, I absolutely HATE with a passion, the touch bar. I keep pressing Siri by mistake in public places. May roll back to my early 2013 PRO at this rate.

I went with a 2015 MBP 15", brand new, 3 years Applecare for less than the old list price of £1999. Feel that was a much better choice, as the touch bar looks too much of a kids toy add-on, and don't want a bag full of dongles to make things work!

I'm sure SIRI can be removed from the touch bar in the customisation settings?

Your right, I think they messed up with the touch bar implementation. Should have been added above the function keys rather than replace the function keys themselves. I think the 2015 is the better buy just now especially if you don't need the extra graphics power. The port situation is a mixed bag for me as you just buy USB C cable for £10-20 instead of using dongles. The only thing I feel they should have left is the SD card port as I don't see camera makers getting their act together with wireless transfer methods anytime soon.

Give it a few years and USB-C will the standard and the price will come down as well so just a bit early for us average people to jump in yet.

So far I have managed to turn it off but I have had to turn Siri off completely in order to remove from touch bar. I would prefer just keeping Siri on but removing from touch bar

Apart from this and the fact I need a USB type C converter for everything, the computer is a big improvement, larger touch mouse area, better retina screen, higher GPU

Keyboard is horrible. I went for a 2015 model instead.

Great price though if this is the right machine for you. Shame Apple don't do any standard 13" models with 16GB of ram or Currys cannot supply BTO models.

I see your point about the keyboard, its the same type of idea as the new MacBook released last year, I prefer the old keyboard with thicker keys. ATM I have a keyboard TPU cover over mine to protect against wear and tear, it's a nightmare sometimes pressing the space bar.

I'd rather get a new Macbook than pay £3200 in tax too.
Well played.

If it's any help John Lewis price matches the Currys offer.

My son got the 15" model with the £200 off + his John Lewis partner discount taking it down to £1891 from the original apple price of £2349.
JL gives you 2 years guarantee also.

Hahaha, exactly

make it £999 and we can talk!

If not for Brexit, this would likely be the price today with this deal. The lack of ports is the real bummer with this model.

The tax saving wouldn't be £3200. It would be either £640, £1280 or £1440 depending on your tax band.

Limited companies do not have tax bands, corporation tax is 20% below 300k or 23% if above 300k, I think what ExBoss was explaining here, is it's better to spent 3200 of the companies profit on an a company expense such as a laptop rather than it been marked as profit thus having to pay tax on the amount, which is also indeed true.

What I was referring to is paying 3200 minus VAT as my company is VAT registered. Both are very good ideas

My company is on the flat-rate VAT scheme which usually means I can't reclaim VAT on UK purchases. There is an exception though for capital expenditure above £2k, so I will be reclaiming the VAT for my recent MacBook Pro purchase, albeit not as much because I didn't spend £3200!

Ok let's agree on two bands

Any reclaim is better than no reclaim, you have the right idea

where is the 11% quidco comes from? Cant see it anywhere.

Looks like the quidco has ended? And tcb aren't too high either today. I voted you hot yesterday though, great deal despite the haters!

wish i was on this before i decided to get one yesterday

Would have probably gone for this had I seen it. Unfortunately the small minded proletariat who balk at spending more than £300 on a laptop voted it cold, completely defeating the purpose of this website.
