I know it's Apple but this has just been discounted today, seems a good deal - I am personally waiting for the new surface book.

voted hot because...well a deal is a deal and saving £200 off RRP is a deal. It is more than 10%.

That said, I am a big Apple fan but...the price for the specification is mental. No other way to describe Apple's pricing strategy. Absolute mental. i5 & 8GB or RAM for £1500 is insane.

Also, regarding the Surface Book - the whole Surface product line is being pulled by Microsoft to focus on Cloud as their secondary business. It's been in the Cloud news for a few weeks. Most Microsoft hardware is being canned and Surface is second to go after Windows phone. The new models will be released but that will be it.

There has been some rebuttal from Microsoft but it seems like a legit business move.

The specs would suggest this is about £1000 over priced. Buy windows laptop and get the iphone x with your savings.

It is a massive Rip off! I would recommend lenovo yoga touchscreen over this one which is nearly 300 pounds cheeper. You get 4k touch, 7th generation i series processor, long ljfe battery and cheaper accessories!

Voted hot as it’s a good deal for those who wanted it (solid JL warranty and customer service too). However, I’d advise going for the cheaper non touch bar version which is significantly less with the same specs. The touch bar is a pretty useless peripheral with little 3rd party support. I much prefer the touch screen Microsoft added to its surface laptop range.

£1000 overpriced is a bit optimistic. For £500 notes, the best you can hope for is this;

If you truly think this is a fair comparison, you’re probably in the wrong thread.

agree that it is a lot of money for the spec. Different target markets. The non touchbar model offers slightly better value. Note JL will price match Argos discounts at the min.

Ok. Maybe only £700 over the odds

I actually ordered this from JL last week, I hated the keyboard and touchbar so much I have returned it. Why can't apple give customers what they want!!

Even though the screen on the Air is bad everything else is excellent, I am going to use it until something else pops up - keeping my eye on the new Surface Book..

A couple of devs have got Doom to run on the touchbar

You honestly believe the stories surrounding Microsoft Surface products?

In what way? Believe Microsoft or believe the rumours about Microsoft?

Absolutely. The Surface Range is finished. That's certain.

The lottery is random. Business information and corporate strategy for the third biggest tech company in the world is not. There are people all around the world paid to do nothing else except analyse, track and predict the actions of Microsoft.

Microsoft also lost $4bn on the original Xbox but have stuck with it to date because it gave them a footing in the video games market. I wouldn’t be so certain they’re going to scrap the entire surface line just a few years into developing it. In the tablet sphere they’re the only serious competition Apple has.

Finally, someone with some common sense rather than believing all they read and hear online.

Just been to John Lewis and got the non touch bar model but 256GB SSD version. Asked them to price match with Argos for £1299 instead of £1449.
Got the 0% 12month offer and paid the deposit on my credit card so fully protected
